"If that man walks pas my house again i will put my throat down his fist"

Im quoting my step dads reaction to a man walking his dog past his house.... the dog was well behaved and under complete control and the guy was walking his dog minding hs own buisness.

My step dad thinks its acceptable because he can say / do what he in his house / on his the councils pavement outside his house

He didnt like it because he has cats and "the dog might eat his cats" FFS ye right"

I told him that that was not an acceptbale way to treat a complete stranger doing NOTHING wrong and that if he did i hope he'd go to jail... and that i would be on the side of the guy who was innocently attacked.

Apparrently I am unreasonable.... wondered what everyone thinks [hmmm]

sounds like just talk and that never hurt anyone.

NoBiggy · 22/06/2008 00:33

You meant fist down throat, right?

Does this need asking?

You are not unreasonable, and he's a nut.

hayley2u · 22/06/2008 00:33

nannyl completley agree your stepdad is out of order here. who is he to say where people walk. i know if he said it to me id make sure i walked there again to prove a point. you did right by telling him, good for you

BetteNoire · 22/06/2008 00:34

He sounds like charm personified.

I would like to see him try to put his throat down his fist though.

nannyL · 22/06/2008 00:35

yes i meant fist down his throat

Im so cross right now lol

Sounds like a right nob. Is he a nob in other ways too or is he just obesessed with this man?

nannyL · 22/06/2008 00:42

oh he is a complete 100% nob in pretty much everyway actually

OP posts:
Gobblegobble · 22/06/2008 00:43

Silly sod. Ignore him, YANBU at all!!

Flashman · 22/06/2008 00:45

I thought the one place where you are perfectly safe to make threats to the world is your own house - as long as he does not carry them out or do outside the house and make those threats whats the big deal?

Joolyjoolyjoo · 22/06/2008 00:50

YANBU. But there is absolutely no point being reasonable where people like this are concerned, IME. He's never going to do it (I hope) so smile non-commitedly (patronisingly?) and remove yourself mentally from the conversation

nannyL · 22/06/2008 00:50

ok

i just dont think its vey nice to threaten to put your fist doen the throat of a complete strange who is doing nothing at all wrong / and not effecting your life at all...

mabe I am wrong?

particulaly when he shouts it at me and my mum in a very aggresive voice (my mum and i were in a different room having a game of cards)

OP posts:
Gobblegobble · 22/06/2008 00:53

Flashman you might be able to make threats in your own homw without anyone hearing it, no thats not an offence, but it doesnt stop you being a nob .

Flashman · 22/06/2008 00:58

Oh I totally agree I would be a knob to do that - does seem a very strange thing - perhaps it is just dick waving, make himself see good?

Joolyjoolyjoo · 22/06/2008 01:00

Option: shout, "yeah- go on!! I want to see you do that!" and watch the idiot get beaten up by the man or savaged by his dog.

nannyL · 22/06/2008 10:20

anymore comments on if its acceptabe to suggest you are planning to violently assault a complete stranger for no reason at all?

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 22/06/2008 10:35

It depends if it's just talk.
I've been known to say that if those 'fucking kids jumps around on my stones outside my house again I'll wring their bloody necks'
Of course I wouldn't, It's just said in anger at them jumping around on the stones which could easily kick up and scratch the car, maybe this man stares in the window or something making your stepdad angry?
If her were likely to actually carry out the thread it's a totally different matter though imo.

CaptainUnderpants · 22/06/2008 10:42

If you make threats in your own home like the one in the OP and the man walking outside heard it ( or anyone outside ), felt intimidtaed, threatedned etc then it would be an offence under the Public Order Act .

Anglepoise · 23/06/2008 00:09

Someone once shot out my mum's back windscreen because he lived on a quiet country lane and was fed up of people driving past all day to drop off and pick up kids from a party further down the road

LynetteScavo · 23/06/2008 00:16

My FIL says things like this, but doesn't mean them for one second. It would annoy me if my DC's heard such talk, though.
