Ugh. Dieting again as my weight has crept up to 9.5 stone and my fighting weight is 8.5. I’m a sucker for crisps and cheese.

Does anyone have any advice on savoury low calorie replacements?

Help!

Cut your portion sizes, intermittent fasting or have 2 meals a day instead of 3. Then you can snack without counting every calorie.

As other posters have said, it's best to focus on your meals first. Check out Filling Meals by Lindsay Wilson, he's on Facebook and Instagram too. All meals in the book are around 500 calories and it's based on satiety, keeping you full for hours with the right amounts of fibre and healthy fats. Lindsay is a data driven weight loss coach, and the book and Facebook group have been very helpful to me.

I’d echo this! We’ve been using Filling Meals for several months and it’s brilliant! Before when trying to lose weight I would
focus on volume ie lots of salad and fruit and ‘low fat’ snacks but would be pacing the kitchen in the evening as I was so hungry. I’m almost never hungry now and am eating a far more balanced, healthy diet. I hardly ever need a snack and really enjoy my meals.

I highly recommend following Hungry Happy Healthy on Facebook (she has done some books too). Brilliant snacks, lunchboxes, grazing platters, dippy plates, nutritionally excellent quick recipes.

Greek yogurt

Imtoooldforallthis · 14/05/2026 10:06

Try sliced raw carrots with cider vinegar and sea salt. I saw this on tiktok and am slightly addicted

Not sure about calories - I would prefer a healthy snack to 100 calories of UFP.
Apple slices and nut butter
Boiled egg
Yogurt with seeds / fruit / dried fruit
Celery and humus
Blueberries and kefir
popcorn
tinned fish (sardines or mackerel) on rice cake or oatcake
Someone said stock cube but you can get that nice bouillon powder - low salt and it's a bit healthier (I think)
Bone broth
beetroot and tuna
cucumber sticks
weirdly bombay mix can be quite healthy - lots of pulses and beans

M&S do really good protein yoghurts, around 140cals and 22g of protein in a tub. They come in a range of flavours, and you can add berries or fruit - a few more cals than a packet of quavers but SO much more filling, and will feel like a proper small meal rather than consuming a bag of flavoured air!

PipkinOfPepper · 14/05/2026 10:14

I also love grated carrot salad - you can add seeds / nuts / other veg / diced tofu, and a bit of lemon juice, salt + EVOO and it's delicious

Nutmuncher · 14/05/2026 10:15

Try a soft boiled egg and half a tin of chopped tomatoes.

What is evoo?

Sorry, it's extra virgin olive oil. 😊

I was about to suggest this too - great book!

Snack-a-Jack salt and vinegar rice cakes are lovely. Only 80cals per bag apparently too 😊

Ooh. Avocado, cucumber sticks, carrot sticks, cashew nuts, bread sticks, Twiglets... and all fruit of course. Bananas are excellent snacks.

I'm a huge fan of snacking, probably why I can't ever have a size 10 waist again and be 8 stone! Three DC and perimenopause will make you out of shape and 10 stone! 😫

Isn’t avocado fattening? I do like it. Tub of tomato salsa is the least evil dip out there.

Are the tomatoes warmed up or cold? I can’t imagine eating them cold.

Sunshineandrainbow · 15/05/2026 10:36

I love an apple and peanut butter and also kallo veggie cakes as something to grab and crunch

I’m really liking miso soup right now. Good for you gut and your hormones.

I love miso soup too. Haven't had it for a while, thanks for the reminder.
