For those who have cubic zirconia rings, do you like them now you have them?

For those who don't like them, why don't you?
I'm considering buying one for myself and I hope folks don't look down on me 😎

Yes, I don’t try and pretend it’s a diamond but people have mistaken it for one. I like it because it’s more ethical than mined diamonds, a lot cheaper and gives a similar look.

Same. It's actually meant to be a wedding anniversary present so not really buying it for myself iyswim but in practice I probably will.

Yes, they’re nice, treat yourself. Most people would not know the difference and why does it matter?

Years ago had a ring with small cz stones & they went cloudy.
If you want a ring that will sparkle for years I would suggest lab diamonds, moissanite or actual zircon

It doesn't to me. Just wondering what the consensus is. I've heard people be a bit disparaging about it.

I have lots of costume rings that are zircons. The main thing to be aware of is that they don't last like diamonds - because the stone isn't as hard, in the long term it can become scratched and dull. For that reason they are not perhaps a good choice for a long term ring such as an engagement ring.

Lab diamonds are an option - much cheaper and more ethical than mined diamonds but identical in properties. You can get a 1 carat one for about a 10th of the cost of a mined diamond, larger ones are even cheaper relatively. To be aware of with lab diamonds is that they don't have as much resale value as a mined diamond. A jeweller with specialist equipment can tell the difference although identical to the naked eye.

It essentially depends what the ring is for - something pretty to wear that you're happy to replace - zircon; long term ring on a budget - lab diamond; long term ring with resale potential - mined diamond.

Noting my username, dh bought me a ring some years ago and TWO of my wealthier friends asked that question. Must've left me with a chip on my shoulder. And yes. It is real. Tiny but real.
