BBC bias to Reform undeniable

The Laura Kuenessberg show starts off by showing all the front pages. Of course they nearly all have something about Starmer under pressure, except The Observer, which leads with details of the crypto billionaire who lives in Thailand and has funded Reform, including giving Farage the £5million. That front page wasn't shown and instead they showed something from within the paper about, you guessed it, Starmer being in trouble.

This is not good enough and there's no excuse.

Newspaper headlines: 'Plot to oust Starmer' and 'Gord help us all' - BBC News

A composite image of the front pages of the Sunday Telegraph and the Daily Star. "Stalking horse plot to oust Starmer" reads the headline on the front page of the former and "Gord help us all" reads the headline of the latter.

Sunday's papers lead on the fallout from the local elections and Gordon Brown's return to politics.

The BBC love affair with Nigel Farage has been long term and blatant.

The amount of coverage he has always been gifted is totally unfair on the other political parties.

Who needs party political broadcasts when the BBC has always given him free rein to pedal his views.

I hate Reform but I’m not sure that’s true. It’s not uncommon for there to be complaints of bias after an election.

BIWI · 10/05/2026 11:26

I think you'll find that there were plenty of complaints well before the election!

Farage has always had lots of coverage, but it's not generally complimentary.

The government gets given a rough ride, as did the last one and the one before that.

The BBC has institutional bias, but it's liberal leaning - eg, trans heavy, guardian reader type of thing.

I know the complaints go back a long way and it's certainly not the first time I've thought it. But it just seemed so blatant this morning - here are all the front pages - Oh, except one that's tricky for Reform so we'll remove that one....Don't know how you explain that @PerryMenopaws

I think they were talking about the hammering Labour got. The Reform story is a separate issue and would have complicated the discussion.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be covered but it wasn't the point of that part. And the BBC did cover the Thai business man and his money in some detail earlier.

Once Reform have some power and start to balls things up they should get the coverage. What the party in power says/does or doesn't say/do is always easier to question than anything from the other parties because they're talking hypothetically.

Surely our Prime Minister's prospects are more significant than whoever contributes funding for one of the minor political parties.
