I’m wondering if those people who ‘have’ to have Heinz Tomato Ketchup, Heinz Baked Beans, Heinz soups, Heinz salad cream etc. Have never tried other brands including supermarket own lines?

Heinz is a brand which is a rip off and products don’t taste nice or have some weird texture.

I have no Heinz products at all in my home.

One of my friends’ DH used to be ‘everything has to be Heinz’. My friend got fed up with the rip off prices and bought the supermarket own. Then one day, she and DH had beans on toast for lunch. He said the beans are very nice and nicer than before. She confessed that the beans were Aldi’s own. Plus could buy almost 4 cans for the price of 1 Heinz can.

I love Heinz Beans and Heinz chicken soup!

DelilahBucket · 09/05/2026 17:34

We stopped buying Heinz products a few years ago. The quality has gone massively downhill and a lot of their products have me raging heartburn, so no idea what they put in the tinned goods. There are much better products out there, often with better ingredients and for a lower price. I find the same with a lot of brands these days. They have mostly gone the same way in order to maintain a profit.

whiteroseredrose · 09/05/2026 17:35

YABU. I prefer Sainsbury own label but some people do genuinely prefer Heinz.

For me, only Kelloggs cornflakes are acceptable.

FeetupTvon · 09/05/2026 17:37

Stopped buying Heinz 2 yrs ago. Not the quality they used to be. No taste at all. Tesco and Aldi baked beans much better. Same with their soups.

WongLynchFellini · 09/05/2026 17:37

I used to only eat Heinz beans but they’re actually horrible now, watery and flavourless, so I’ve switched to a much cheaper brand and they’re much nicer.

Sorry but that's made me laugh way more than is necessary. It's giving these vibes.

We dislike Heinz. Dh, and dc like the Asda beans, dc likes lidl Ketchup. I am a Ketchup snow and prefer Wilkins & Sons, or Mutti.
I like Lidl Newgate tomato soup! I find Heinz bland.

BleedinglyObvious · 09/05/2026 17:39

Was it really worth starting a thread about this?

SunnyRedSnail · 09/05/2026 17:39

Depends on the quality of alternatives.

Its like Kellogs. Their cornflakes are expensive but I have tried so many alternatives and not found anything better.

I love Heinz ketchup! Never found anything I like more.

Octavia64 · 09/05/2026 17:39

I like their five beans.

no dupes that I know of

NorthXNorthWest · 09/05/2026 17:39

No substitute for the ketchup, that I have found. Soup and beans I am not brand loyal too.

DinoLil · 09/05/2026 17:40

Heinz Chilli baked beans are amazing!

Heinz Chilli baked beans are amazing!

They're not. They're just overpriced baked beans with some chilli in the sauce.

britneyisfreebutnotokay · 09/05/2026 17:44

Waitrose own beans are a thousand times better than Heinz. Used to be a Heinz only girl. Tbh I stopped eating ketchup years ago because I refuse to pay that price and nothing else is as good

Zov · 09/05/2026 17:45

Can't vote, as I haven't bought anything 'Heinz' this century. I always get the store's own brand. Often 3 times cheaper and tastes great.

JackandVictor · 09/05/2026 17:46

I have recently bought a bunch of Heinz tinned soups while they were on offer and I've remembered the main reason I don't buy Heinz is because the tins don't stack and I have high cupboards and it makes retrieval a hazard! If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful 😅

I always used to love Heinz tomato soup but the Aldi one seems much better and tastes like the old Heinz did

Idontjetwashthefucker · 09/05/2026 17:48

Heinz beans went to shit so it's Branston now for me but I do prefer their ketchup and mayo and yes, I've tried lots of different ones

Was it worth commenting your comment?!

I stopped using Heinz years ago. I don’t know whether they’ve tried to make their products more “healthy” but to me they’re just bland and tasteless. DH had a tin of big soup the other night and said there was only 3 tiny little bits of beef. Plus the price is ridiculous.

DrEmilyCrabtree · 09/05/2026 17:53

The only Heinz item I have stuck with is tinned spaghetti. Sainsbury's baked beans are great, and aldi salad cream passes the test. Everything else is lidl/asda/aldi/tesco

SnipItScrapBook · 09/05/2026 17:55

Branston beans are much better than Heinz

My family likes fhe Branston too, but had trouble with the tins being discoloured/oxidised inside. I read it is dangerous to eat them from this kind of tin, and we encountered this across multiple batches. I don't know if they have corrected it yet. They love Asda's, so have been buying those.

intrepidpanda · 09/05/2026 17:57

I'm not huge on buying brands but ketchup is always heinz as it is miles ahead of the other minimally processed options

AgnesMcDoo · 09/05/2026 17:58

I prefer Heinz for beans, soup, ravioli and macaroni but for other things usually go with Tescos own brand.

Tescos own brand ketchup has far more flavour

I have tried alternatives for these things I prefer Heinz.
