AIBU to expect the full hour to be spent on massage?

Tomorrow I have booked myself and my sister a 60 minute massage. In the past when I have booked 60 mins, I have found the masseuse takes 10 mins to set everything and me up then the massage is over like with 10 mins remaining of the hour. So, you have actually only had 40 mins. Is this normal? How much into the time would you say something? Is set up time counted into the hour? I am assuming it as she’s books me in for 1 and my sister for 2 and she’s the only one doing them.

Nope. Mine does the full hour.

I think they do need a few mins either side to let you get changed, ask you if you have any health issues etc.

I think they need a few minutes st the start to ask questions about medical history and to let you get undressed and covered up, and Sat the end, to get dressed. But the room should otherwise be ready, e.g. fresh towels laid in place, traces of previous client all gone. So I'd expect 50 minutes.

I’d expect 50 mins

I’d expect it to be pretty much the full 60 mins, they always say turn up about 10-15 mins beforehand so that’s when I’d expect the form to be completed/pre massage chat to take place.

I have an allergy and get hacked off that even when I’ve disclosed this on the form and often mentioned it on the booking the masseuse takes 10 minutes to go and check for a product that can be used eating into my appointment time.

I would expect her time to be in hour slots. So there needs to be time within that to get people in and out, dressed and undressed etc. do 45-50 minutes.

I would expect there to be a short gap between bookings for the masseuse to sort out clean towels etc, but I would also expect that the time for them to take your medical history and for you to get undressed/ redressed to come out of your time.

However, I would expect to be informed of this in advance so you know what you are paying for. I’ve had massages at a spa and this is clearly stated on the website. I also sometimes have a massage with a lady who is self employed and she is clear when you book, that your booking is for an hour and a half, which includes a chat around your medical history, time for you to change, and have a drink at the end. The actual massage is one hour.

Yes this often is the case. They ask you to turn up ten mins early but then they leave you in the room for about ten minutes to get changed when you don't really need that long and you finish before the hour is up. It's more like 45 mins in my experience. You probably get more for your money booking a 30 minute appointment.

If I’m paying for an hour. I get an hour.
