To think it's absolutely ridiculous that the BBC are treating today like a General Election?

It's almost like they've been told to shove Reform down our throats or something ..

Starmer marked VE Day

I think a lot of Reform voters thought it was a GE .They probably think Farage is PM now.

No it's not. Ve day is. June 6th

Yes it is.

Victory in Europe Day (VE Day)
Celebration

Date
Friday, 8 May 2026

I was at a Remembrance parade today.

VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) was officially marked on May 8, 1945, celebrating the Nazi surrender.

While D-Day, the Allied invasion of Normandy, occurred on June 6, 1944, some events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the war’s end, such as those held by the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2025, held special commemorative events in early June, distinct from the official May anniversary.

VE Day: May 8, 1945—The day World War II in Europe ended.D-Day: June 6, 1944—The start of the liberation of Western Europe.Significance of Early June:

While June 6th is D-Day, some anniversary events for VE Day are sometimes organized in close proximity to D-Day events.

Yanbu. Chris Mason is a disgrace.
I was amused at the headline at the weekend (due to not wanting to be questioned over a 5 million pound tax free bribe): "Farage pulls out of Laura Kuenssberg". Says it all.

I am seriously considering stopping paying the TV Licence fee as the BBC in my opinion is spending money on presenters and rubbish programmes all the time. For example, I know the war in Iran is serious but why on earth did they have to have Clive Myrie presenting the 6 o’clock news from the Middle East? They have Middle East correspondents that live there anyway. Another example, how many sports presenters do they need to commentate on for example the Olympics? Plus don’t get me started on Rip Off Britain. Episode this week about an elderly couple whose passports went missing (they had assistance at the airport) and they had to fork out for extra accommodation. Turns out they didn’t have travel insurance as it was going to be too expensive. Don’t feature a story when people have been bloody stupid

Chris Mason was nearly wetting himself with excitement today because he's finally managed to dig up an MP (out of the 403 current Labour MPs) who was willing to say she thought Starmer should go.

I wish I could find a broadcaster that reported news that actually happened rather than trying to create their own. As the BBC used to do back in the day.

Ablondiebutagoody · 10/05/2026 00:49

The coverage I've seen has mostly been about how shit Starmer is as Prime Minister

VivienneDelacroix · 10/05/2026 01:02

What I find annoying (and indicative of the media's obsession with Farage) is that Labour still have control of many more councils than any other party and have many more councillors. But nowhere is showing a graphic of that. They're all showing a graphic of the number of gained and lost seats, which makes it appear that Reform is the most successful party of the election which simply isn't true.

Edited

Thats because only about 25% off seats were up for election and most councils don't put ALL their seats up at once so the lack of over all control is not what you thin int means in fact, hat some councils do have full control is quite telling, for Reform.

Exactly, showing a massive bias in the reporting.

Reporters/ new outlets should report FACTs. Things that have happened. Not create their own narrative around what they would like to see happen.
