What do you think the (political) world will look like in 2028?

We should have our General Election in 28

The presidential election

Who do you think will be in power? What big events do you think wouldve happened?

I reckon we're gonna have a summer of riots here. And maybe in the US.

I suspect the war will spread to the West and we'll experience power cuts and misinformation being spread

I think we'll have the first publically declared deaths from poverty in the UK, which the right wingers will manipulate to have a real shot at power

I think that the Greens and Reform will be the biggest political parties due to these reasons as well

I want polanski gone, so there would be a different leader male of the Greens, going head to head with Farage

🤔

Well that’s all a little extreme.

i think the war will end in the coming months and the world will right itself . It will end when trump decides to end it. There will be no riots.

who succeeds trump, I don’t know, they want Vance, but I doubt he will win.

i think this country will move back to Tory at the next ge. They will replace kemi, farage will blot his copy book like Labour did.

so both will move back to a safe pair of hands.

amd the world will continue as it always has.

LaurieFairyCake · 08/05/2026 12:55

Well I’m kind of hoping that people wake up to how fascistic, corrupt and grotesque Farage is. People clearly have no idea how little work he does.

But seriously, fuck knows. I don’t understand how stupid people have become, it’s such a whole fucking con by the right wing press.

bedfrog · 08/05/2026 13:09

Another push for scottish independence I'd think. And welsh and NI for that matter. I think the uk will start to break up.

I agree with the majority of this.

Conservatives will choose a new leader who appeals to the centre-right and is relatable enough on common concerns to scoop up fence-sitters and the politically homeless.

At a local level, services and social care will be absolute dogshit in the areas with Reform councils. It'll push deprivation markers in those areas even higher and that'll be the start of the backlash against Reform. The people cheering today will soon change their tune when they find that their council tax doesn't magically reduce, that anti-social behaviour increases now the knuckle-draggers can borrow political legitimacy, and that issues develop in the community as social care budgets are slashed.

There'll be some kick-off after the election when the mouth-breathers realise that Good Old Nigel isn't the winner. They'll smash up their local high street to show how unhappy they are.

In the US, Trump will go and will be like a petulant toddler. He'll make out that the election was once again stolen from him but it won't get the reaction is did last time. Vance will run but I think the Democrats will win.

War in Iran will fizzle out. Tensions and sanctions will remain but it's not going to escalate into a Europe-wide conflict, it's just rumble on the background like Ukraine.

I would hope for most of this, but that Labour will stay in - maybe with Angela Raynor as PM

I am on the left compared to some of the reform posters on here, but its a genuine thread about 2028's political elections

Sadly I envisage Reform picking up steam and the UK hurtling towards being the USA's twin in many things from non existent employment rights to "healthcare" to womens issues

I am most interested to see how they all approach the freezing of tax thresholds.

That has been a huge tax grab and left most people worse off.

The country needs cash so by that logic should keep freezing them… but a party who puts them back to the ‘right’ level will probably attract a lot of support.

At present the strategy seems to be to freeze them all in perpetuity…!

See i dont know if I agree there - the voters that are going green obviously aren't bothered about taxes being lowered.

A big number of those that go towards reform also arent doing do for tax reasons- despite that being what some will definitley support - its about immigration

I will be optimistic and say that we will see more stability in energy prices and energy security as we see more gains from renewables (but unfortunately it will likely take a few years longer). Trump will get very annoyed that we need less of his oil

It may be that reform get in and try to reverse the progress for their fossil fuel chums - that would be depressing
