To think discussion of sexual assault overlooks perpetrators?

This isn’t about denying how common sexual assault is for women, it clearly is. But I sometimes wonder whether the way we talk about it places most of the attention on women’s risk, behaviour and vigilance, rather than on the fact that sexual assault is overwhelmingly committed by men. Instead of constantly framing the issue as “X% of women will experience this”, wouldn’t it be more honest (and more useful) to centre the conversation on perpetrators, accountability and prevention?

AIBU to think the emphasis is skewed?

Nice idea but we’re along way of holding men accountable.
I faced my rapist in court and was told by his female defence.. Can you not understand how what you were wearing that night is confusing for men, this was 2024 btw.

There have been a few campaigns that put the emphasis on men. Strangely (not really) enough , they never really gained much traction or are as entrenched in our culture and subconscious as what was she wearing, what was she doing there, how much did she have to drink, did she flirt, did she smile etc.?
The world will always blame and police women. It’s easier.
