Just that really. We need to bring an approved form of ID (a passport or other) to vote tomorrow. Here’s link to what the approved forms of ID are:

Bumping. Thank you, I’d forgotten.

WaitingForMojo · 06/05/2026 21:21

Oh!! I had no idea! Thank you

EmpressaurusKitty · 06/05/2026 21:23

My passport’s sitting by the front door on top of my voting card - it seemed the easiest way to be certain I’d remember to take it!

MrsMattSantos · 06/05/2026 21:29

although doesn’t apply in Scotland… no ID needed here tomorrow

FunkyFringe · 06/05/2026 21:34

No ID needed in Wales either.

No ID needed in Wales either.

That’s interesting. I needed it for the GE although i understand the jurisdiction is different.

I will take mine just in case and make sure I take a pic at 7am for #dogsatpollingstations

igelkott2026 · 06/05/2026 22:03

Thanks for the reminder - interesting it only applies in England . You need ID in NI as well so I hadn't realised that Wales and Scotland were excluded.

No ID needed in Wales either.

This explains why I had no clue!

BillieWiper · 06/05/2026 22:08

I think out of date passport is still ok?

As long as it still looks like you.

Funny how you don’t need it in Scotland!

Funny how you don’t need it in Scotland!

its devolution - Holyrood and local council elections are under the control of the Scottish Parliament

Thank you. It's not me but it does look like the person still.

PermanentTemporary · 06/05/2026 22:42

Bumping again for the late crowd

DancingCactusFlower · 06/05/2026 22:43

Needed in Scotland (and assume Wales ) for elections to Westminster (General Election or By-election) but not for Scottish Government or Scottish Council elections.

BIWI · 06/05/2026 22:44

It does tell you that on your polling card!

TheChosenTwo · 06/05/2026 22:47

BIWI · 06/05/2026 22:44

it does but you don’t need your polling card to vote, I never actually read mine beyond checking the polling station because mine changes sometimes so I don’t think the reminder is a bad thing!
I did remember, I rarely carry anything with me other than phone and keys but will have my driving license with me tomorrow when I go and vote.
Thanks op, good public service announcement.

EmpressaurusKitty · 07/05/2026 08:26

I took my old passport which expired in February, because the guidelines said that would be ok as long as it still looked like me. I do have a new one but prefer to leave it at home unless I’m actually travelling.

They accepted it, after I took my glasses off & hair down & answered a couple of questions from it, but weren’t thrilled. Maybe I’ve changed more than I thought.

Safarisagoody · 07/05/2026 08:31

I forgot that, thanks op.
