Trying to organise an affordable Year 6 leavers activity - ideas needed!

I am looking into trying to organise a Year 6 leavers activity for the children to all have one last hoorah before they all go their separate ways to Secondary schools. I seem to be going around in circles trying to think of something fun, that isn’t expensive and will be something that will appeal to the majority/all. Has anyone organised something similar before or have any good ideas please?

Thank you.

Are you organising as a PTA funded activity or expecting parents to pay?

Pizza party. One of the teachers/ parents doing the music.
Supermarket pizzas/ garlic bread/ crisps/ drinks.
Maybe throw in a few awards the the year 6s can vote for (printed certificates or cheap medals etc form ebay.
All the kids can get dressed up and have fun with their pals.

My primary school used to hold a barbecue in the playground with games and music. Always a nice way to spend the afternoon.

My school did a bring and share snacks at the local park with a huge water fight. They tipped off a local ice cream van so kids could buy ice creams and drinks. It was really low key but fun and gave the children a chance to run around being kids.

I was going to say bbq and water fight on the school field - or disco in the early evening not straight after school.

let it run on for several hours

It's not PTA funded. The PTA have sent me a message asking if we have thought about trying to arrange something for the children to celebrate the end of their school year. We will try and make it inclusive for everybody.

I think actually our school has done something similar to this in years gone by. Thank you. It's a good suggestion. Especially the ice cream van.

Depending how close to one you are usually town/city center but all you can eat restaurants are popular with tweens and teens round here. Quite a grown up thing to do and a set sometimes reduced price so parents know what they are paying.
