Wegovy jab

Is anyone on it? Any success stories?

I went to a private Dr today to ask about weight-loss jabs. I have endometriosis, Pcos and am Pre diabetic. I’ve been very slim in the past, but have to work extremely hard, basically not eating and working out daily for a couple of hours. I’m likely in Peri menopause now and although I eat healthily, admittedly I don’t exercise (aside from
long dog walks) and have piled weight on and feel very low.
The Dr has given a long list of blood tests I must have done before she will prescribe, but she said if they’re ok, she will prescribe me either Wegovy or Monjouro (spelling?) She showed me the difference in price between the two and I decided Wegovy will be best
Is anyone on it? How quick are the results, did you have side effects? She told me there are more side effects on Wevovy, which worries me a little.
she’s suggested I start eating less carbs, more protein and start using my exercise bike again, maybe twice a week at first and my hand weights
I’ve come out and cried in the car as I can’t believe it’s come to this for me and I feel ashamed of myself.

Any positive stories of quick weight loss please?

I think there’s a topic for weight loss injections - if you report your post you can ask it to be moved there where you’ll be likely to get responses!

I haven’t used them myself so I can’t answer your question, sorry.

I believe the side effects are slightly less common on wegovy rather than mounjaro, mounjaro can mean you end up losing a tiny bit more weight (2% difference overall).
I'm on wegovy, in my 3rd month. I got a few headaches early on, got a bit constipated, but the appetite suppression effects are fantastic for me! I'm an emotional eater, a comfort eater and an over eater. I've lost about half a stone, that's not impressive to be honest because I like to self sabotage with sugar. Most people will have lost more by this stage I think.
I can finally see a way out of the gain - fail to lose cycle and it's amazing. I still have to conciously make good food decisions but it is getting easier and easier.

I am taking mounjaro been on it 11 months I’ve lost just short of 4 stone so I am now at 9st 11lbs I am 5ft2ins . I have pcos and insulin resistance. Also struggling with peri menopause . I have also suffered with IBS-D all my life. This stopped me trying wli for over a year through fear of side effects. I can honestly say they’ve been amazing for me healthy blood sugar levels . No food cravings . More energy . My IBS has not been an issue after my very first jab . This is why I am still taking it. I am working my way down the doses for maintenance though. I stayed on 2.5mg until it wasn’t working then went up 2.5mg to 3.75mg then 5mg to 6.50mg my highest dose was 7.5mg .I have had no side effects except when I took my first jab I had a neck ache and shoulder ache lasted just over 24hrs and never returned. It’s been amazing and if my IBS-D symptoms return I will stay on the jab for life if necessary. It also helped with my arthritis in my knees as it reduces inflammation. It’s definitely a try it on for size thing. People do like to condemn it , I was actually one of them but I was wrong . It’s changed my life ! 😊

Iv found Wegovy way better than mounjaro. Less bad side effects for me but same appetite suppressant.

Gosh we sound so similar!

I think i’m going for Wegovy as it’s a cheaper option, but i’m sure she said it has more side effects than Mounjaro
i think the Wegovy starts at 1.5 per month, so am not sure how much that will help?

That’s amazing, seems a lot more reasonably priced

You don't want to be aiming for weight loss that's too quick, OP, that's when the serious complications can begin, regardless of the method of weight loss - eg pancreatitis, gallstones etc. It is said that healthy weight loss is up to 2 lbs a week, though likely uou will have a large loss in the first week or two.
I would look into the 2 drugs a little more as they are not the same. For me, Mounjaro was the right choice and I've never regretted it - 4.5 stone down in 10 months.

SilenceInside · 04/05/2026 18:35

Wegovy was shown in the clinical trials to have on average more side effects than Mounjaro. It is also less effective, on average, than Mounjaro. Wegovy mimics one hormone (GLP1) whereas Mounjaro mimics two (GLP1 and GIP).

You also don’t really want to aim for quick weight loss. That won’t be sustainable and these medications are not intended to be a quick fix and then stop. You may find you need or want to continue taking them.

If your BMI is 27 or higher, with PCOS and being pre-diabetic you will likely be able to get an online prescription for either medication at a considerably cheaper price than paying for private doctor consultations, blood tests and so on.

Also, don’t be ashamed or cry about your weight. It’s not a judgment on you or your morals as much as people like to think it is.

SilenceInside · 04/05/2026 18:38

Oh, and regarding doses, Wegovy starts at 0.25mg dose weekly, Mounjaro starts at 2.5mg weekly. But they are totally different medications and they are not comparable in terms of doses. They each have their own specific dosing schedule.

For either one, you do four weeks on the first dose level and then you can decide to move up a dose if it’s not working well for you. You can repeat that decision every 4 weeks, and you can also move back down a dose if you find moving up was too strong for you.

I’ve lost 6 stone on Wegovy in a year. It’s been fantastic, honestly I’m not sure I ever want to stop taking it. I’m just under my goal weight now and the weight loss has pretty much stopped. I could go up a dose to lose more but I’m quite happy where I am. Had very few side effects, honestly I love just not caring about food at all. It’s very liberating!

That is incredible! What happens when the weight is lost? Do you always have to be on them? This is my fear

I lost 20kg (3 stone) in 6 months on Mounjaro.
Four months later my weight is stable.

I was lucky. Almost no side effects and never had to go above the lowest dose. I still enjoyed eating but the food noise stopped. The noise is back but I'm ignoring it most of the time.

Sorry I lost more on Wegovy with a 3 week hospital stay last year (as private not able to take jab cos no one will help) and left at my smallest of 15.5

I’ve gone back to mj and it has actually been better. Lost more in a week then WG
Though battle is real at now 17 stone and middle age.

I’m not even going to attempt to come off it entirely, I will just reduce right down. I just love not giving a shit about food 😂

By eating less than I did.

Which isn't always easy.
