Anyone diagnosed with first degree heart block?
AIBU / overreacting to be very scared of this condition?

Of all the heart blocks to have it’s the least concerning and usually never requires any treatment.
(I had a pacemaker for 2nd degree block fitted about 3 years ago)
What in particular is worrying you about it? Have you been diagnosed?

I've seen the report but haven't spoken to the consultant yet.
I have palpitations on and off but I wasnt expecting to be diagnosed with anything.
How is life with a pacemaker??

Pacemaker is brilliant. It’s kept me working and able to walk the dogs, do what I need around the house etc - basically able to live my life as normal again. I was horrifically symptomatic from the block though - chest pain/breathless/nearly collapsed a few times.

Bit of tweaking needed in the first few months just while I was re-adjusting activity levels but it’s stabilised nicely. Clinic are great too if you’ve any concerns or weird symptoms.

Hope your appt comes thru soon and you can get some reassurance 😊

probably the least worrying thing you could find on an ecg. As a finding on its own it rarely needs any treatment (loads of people have it and don’t know it)

First degree heart block is almost always completely benign. Obviously see what your doctor says, but don't worry until then.

Hi OP I have complete heart block and had a pacemaker fitted over 2 years ago. It’s been absolutely fine.

You won’t need a pacemaker for just first degree heart block. On its own it’s not concerning at all.
