My wrinkly upper eyelids are bothering me - I know this is both unreasonable and futille but nonetheless

Please tell me your tales of vanity at least briefly triumphing over entropy

Do upper blepharoplasty ops actually work or do you still have the slightly ugh feeling regardless

What about good unguents?

I've been looking at plasma treatment for a while. I'd want to try something non-invasive before jumping at surgery. I don't think I am quite bad for a surgical case quite yet.

Cocolapew · 01/05/2026 12:57

I had the plasma pen and Im very happy with the results

I just get older and I'm ok with it.

DramaAlpaca · 01/05/2026 13:01

I don't want to have surgery and potions don't work, so I guess I'm stuck with crepey eyelids.

Oh, getting older is such a joy!

Yeah that is the correct way tbh

But I want an Anne Hathaway sort of a solution

I try to be but every now and again another consequence of aging catches up with me and no matter how stoical I try to be it does depress me.

My most recent horrible observation about myself is that I'm developing a turkey neck. I would never ever resort to cosmetic procedures but I have started doing the exercises recommended to try keep it at bay. It's just one of those things I never thought would happen to me - shows how much I know!

Anne Hathaway the actress is only 43 so not yet old enough to be a model of 'aging gracefully' whatever that may mean.

Anne Hathaway (Shakespeare's wife) outlived her husband so she did OK.

I know what you mean and it's hilarious seeing younger people now clearly thinking the same. I mean the answer as above is to love ourselves in all our eras but I'd still drop a few thousand on something that worked

43 is also my age and definitely old enough (and she has definitely had some NICE work done)

Have you tried Botox? I have a bit to lift the brow and it makes a huge but very subtle difference to my hooded eyes

I think she's had a brow lift too, though, and, yes, very nice work.

I know a few people who have had blepharoplasties and been very pleased with the results, and I think pretty minimal downtime. I have been told they have sort of a lifespan, though, and the droop can come back.

TorroFerney · 01/05/2026 13:58

I had one in september last year. For function mostly as I was having to raise my brow to see properly and the optician was having to lift my eyelid during an eye exam.

im so glad I had it, when they’d finished the nurse said you can see your eyelashes. I’ve very deep set small eyes anyway so that’s not changed but i have some eyelid now. I also had a very dry runny eye which would crack in the corner, that’s not happening now. I had mine under local anesthetic which isn’t for the faint hearted.

What I find really awful is how aging has become almost a crime and something people should be ashamed of.

When I was younger, and even until fairly recent times, it was just accepted that the majority of women were attractive in their youth, that a certain percentage were attractive as they aged, and some were beautiful no matter what age they were.

These days society is being taught that only youth is attractive and beautiful. It's very sad and totally wrong. There is beauty in women whatever their age.

UpperBleph · 01/05/2026 19:23

I had one done last year in Amsterdam. Best thing I’ve done in years, I love my new eyes and how less tired I feel from not having heavy lids. Cost me £540 plus flights and a night in a hotel.

Im not sharing a photo as last time I did on here I got accused of working for the clinic I had it done at 😁.

It really hasn't I just don't want to look depressing to myself.

Oo would you share the clinic?? I'm surprised it's so cheap there! Did you find insurance ok?

The attractiveness of youth has always been prized.
Surgeries, botox, fillers etc are just more accessible, affordable and acceptable now.
People (women, mostly I think) had to come to terms with and/or resign themselves with their changing/aging appearance and can now change things if they want and have the means. But, chasing the fountain of youth has always been around.

meganorks · Yesterday 08:23

I'm late 40s and considering getting it done. I've looked at laser and surgery options. But I think my case might require surgery. I have a literal fold of skin that comes down and sits on my eyelids and looks awful. And its not even on both sides. I think i try and compensate and hold my eyes more open. But if my face is just at rest I think my eyes make me feel more tired.

My current thinking is if its this bad now, it will need doing eventually so I might as well do it now.

Intrigued by the Amsterdam option. But not sure I would want to travel for it as I would be concerned about follow up appointments and aftercare. Definitely won't be heading to Turkey!

I have recently started using a Ziip halo and see a small difference to my upper eyelids I think. I did try Botox a few times but it always wore off very quickly on me, annoyingly.

What is the plasma pen?!

gianfrancogorgonzola · Yesterday 08:39

Afaik is a very successful operation. I would definitely have it in the future if required, and a face lift if I develop Turkey neck although I hear you can only do this once so it needs to be timed well. My feeling is if you can afford it, it bothers you, you’ve weighed up the risks then why not?! You only get one life.

Yep ... with you on that. The cult of youth is cruel and self defeating.

Plasma pen is done by burning small holes in your skin, it doesn't hurt but smells a bit. You have horrendous scabbing which usually falls off 7-10 days. There will be redness for a few months after, it carries on working up to 3 months. Here is some photos, the last one is straight after the scabbing had gone, its been a few months now and it looks even better because my eyebrow has lifted really well.

I'm having an upper blepharoplasty next week 😬 I've always had hooded eyes but now my hoods have multiple folds in.... my upper eyelids resemble foreskins!!

There's a UK blepharoplasty facebook group where people share experiences, recommendations and pics.

Do you research before Plasma Pens or loo through the threads on here.
I do Botox etc and I wouldn't in a million years have plasma pen, far too risky with results.
Surgery if the only option OP, the rest is a sticking plaster and by the time you've tried x,y,z and all the creams etc then you would have spent similar to surgery!
