Anyone else in this position? It’s driving me nuts! I just missed a few and thought I might be done. Was so happy! But just had another one! 😭

I heard of a pregnancy through a friend of friend, she was 51 and now has a toddler. Healthy birth (but monitored closely), no donor eggs, no complications now so far. So it can happen. She thought it was menopause apparently and that her weight gain was down to too many pizzas and McDs. She’s happy though as her other DC are grown ups.

I know of a natural pregnancy at 50. They thought she was too old to conceive even though she had periods, so no precautions. Sailed through pregnancy and kid is fine. Now they know different, don´t they.

Also know of a natural pregnancy at 50. Also a big shock as their other kids were in late teens and they thought it was menopause. Healthy baby, just very unplanned

january1244 · 29/04/2026 10:35

So yes, I think of you don’t want another child, take precautions if you still have periods!

It’s so disheartening to hear of periods into late 50’s. I think my mum and aunt both had peri in early/mid 50s, and had the mirena coil to stop periods in their 50s. I’m 41 so potentially years to go

Everything is a bloody risk factor for some kind of cancer. To the point that I'm considering not caring at all and what will be will be!

I stopped caring a long time ago. Live life and what will be, will be.

Just checking in to say that I’ve now got another one. Seems like they are back for a while. What gives?! I’m almost 57.

This fills me with dread. My mums still going strong too because oh boy does she moan every month about it on the phone to me.

I’ve decided I’m never coming off contraception I’ll buy it on the black market if I have to 😅

How old is your mum?

56 this year.

We start young in our family as well.

Me school year six, older daughter year five, youngest year four.

Nearly 52 and still regular. Just heavier than it used to be and the flooding is horrific. Really hope they just stop. I’m dismayed at the thought I might be still having them in 5 yrs time.

Haven’t read the whole thread. I had the Mirena coil fitted after my periods were very very heavy and I was told I’d need a transfusion. I had scans and all ok. Anyway, it has changed my life. I had it done privately took two mins and painless.

PrimaniTu · 21/05/2026 22:08

@hoardingwealth a Mirena Coil
could put a stop to them if that’s what you wanted.

At 56 I’d decided enough was enough and my GP suggested having the coil to stop them. I’m 58 now so am unsure if I’d still be having them if I hadn’t had the coil fitted but I am so grateful not to have them anymore.

At the time I was still regular as clockwork and they were showing no signs of stopping. Every month I’d be absolutely gutted to be having yet another period. All my friends had stopped I seemed to be the only one still having them.

BashfulClam · 21/05/2026 22:18

Yep 47and still the little bastard keeps showing up. My mum and gran were well into their late 50’s….it also loves a holiday ‘oh going away are we?’🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸

Redcrayons · 21/05/2026 22:21

Soon to be 55 and about to hit the 6 month mark. 🤞🏻this is the end of it.

i thought that my peri symptoms were well controlled by HRT, however the hot flashes in the last couple of months have been horrendous, and the insomnia has made a very unwelcome return.

XenoBitch · 21/05/2026 22:28

Not me, but my friend. 56 and regular as clockwork but horrendous flooding too. She is so fed up with it.
She tried the coil, and her body ejected it days later.

Davidfromcorrie · 14/06/2026 11:03

Still having them at over 55. It's really starting to wear thin. I've got grey hair and wrinkles. No menopause symptoms whatsoever. Regular period every month. Almost makes we want to cry. These lucky people who stop at 49

TonTonMacoute · 14/06/2026 11:54

I was, it drove me crazy, but on the other hand I had a very easy menopause. I have no idea if the two are connected.

I’ve read also we tend to live longer. Swings and roundabouts 😂

Well my mum had her menopause mid 40s but was 93 when she died.
