AIBU to think bringing a large dog into a play park is inconsiderate?

Had DS3 in the play park this afternoon. The park was gated with a sign that said no dogs at the entrance. Someone came straight in with a toddler and a massive mastiff dog. You could see children and adults were avoiding it. As the owner was leaving the dog actually nipped him on the finger.

Am I being precious or is it really inconsiderate to bring dogs, especially really big ones, into a park with children? The dog was jumpy when children were running past too close etc which made me feel even more uncomfortable.

You obviously live near oiks. Take a photo and send it to the council. These people know nothing will happen but at least protest!

No, we live in one of the most affluent areas in the UK and people STILL bring their chocolate labs into the fenced play area.

When my child was tiny and terrified of dogs (as you would if you weigh 12kg and a lab weighs 30kg) it was an utter pain in the arse having a child intermittently try and climb up me in a panic whenever the dog came near.

Thankfully, as I expected, they grew out of it as they got physically bigger.

The council won’t do a thing, they certainly don’t care about cars parked on double yellows nor endless potholes so dogs are a long way down the list.

This happened.

What, a dog in a park? Hardly a wild tale to make up.

Your title needs amending slightly, but, YANBU.
Dogs don't belong in children's play grounds. They shit as well as having the possibility of nipping or worse.

So do children, to be fair 🤣

Yanbu. I live near a park and have seen thick scum do this every so often. I report them to the dog warden with a photo.

Only guide dogs should be in a playground.

Thanks! I was just ignoring that poster. Not sure why they’d think I’d make something quite so boring up. If I was making something up I’d have tried to think of something much more exciting. Unfortunately I don’t have that kind of time on my hands 🤦‍♀️
