AIBU to be angry after an off lead dog attack?

Live abroad, if it makes any difference

Regularly take our dog in the woods by our house, as do various neighbours and others. It’s not really a place people just go for walks, so dogs are off their leads in every case I’ve seen and never any problems.
Ddog has always been friendly and gentle with other dogs and is getting on a bit now at 13, put still with energy and loves a walk/run in the woods.
Went with our young Dd today as always and saw a man in the distance, suddenly out of nowhere two huge dogs came running towards Ddog who was beside me and started attacking her. Dd screamed, I ran back to her and Dh and the other man ran to the dogs-other man was screaming loudly at his dogs. One of his dogs was a huge alsatian (spelling?) with a muzzle on (thank god or our dog would have been in real trouble)
He managed to get them on the lead and away and we were all shocked. Ddog was ok, but obviously shocked and panting heavily, she is limping on her left back leg, I will take her to the vets in the morning.

Dh said it’s just one of those things and doesn’t lay blame anywhere, whereas I am angry at the man, who has clearly aggressive dogs and they need to be on a lead. I’m also worried to take her there now in case they’re there again off the lead.

Aibu to be cross with this owner and worried for the next walk? I also want to post it on the neighbourhood Whatsapp, but Dh says i’m being over the top.

Aggressive dogs or dogs whose recall is not 100% under all circumstances should only be let off lead in private, secured fields.

I would post it in the WhatsApp group, but from the perspective of warning others to be aware, rather than from anger.

Yes I agree, I’m honestly scared to take her there again and it’s our favourite place and right by our house, which is really unfair as our Ddog would never hurt other dogs

Oh and the man said ‘She has a muzzle on’ about his dog, as if that’s ok! They were really aggressive with Ddog who yelped a lot

YANBU. It drives me mad when owners let unreliable dogs off the lead. Years ago, my Bichon Frise was attacked by a Great Dane that shook him like a rag doll. Thankfully he recovered but I have never really got over the trauma of watching that.

It was horrendous and for Dd, who is only young and saw the first part and screamed before I was able to cover her eyes
