Just eaten half a Victoria sponge, family bag of maltesers and family bag of peanut M&Ms and that’s by lunchtime. It’s like this every day.
Dont say WLI but any other suggestions would be welcome

Use the fear of getting cancer from the high intake of sugar to help yourself quit. Treat it as an addiction, try OE anonymous for a support group.
Best of luck. x

That only works if you care about yourself

❤️ believe it or not you’ll start caring about yourself more now your making huge improvements. I hope you do.
I’m in recovery, a different crutch, it’s hard to get there but worth it. The constant shameful feelings going around kills you inside breaking the cycle feels great in time.

You are doing fantastically , be so super proud of yourself

I listen to Chris Evans breakfast show at work in the mornings , his programme as well as being mad as Chris is, is also very inspirational . All about self love , not in a preachy way, cos its Chris , but in a way where you just pick up wee things that really take hold

His guests , other then those who are promoting films , are usually about well being - mental health, physical health and a lot are about food and our relationships with it

Ive learned a lot just listening along. It doesnt feel like Im on a self help journey , it's just a breakfast show after all, but I really do pick up on things that resonate with me

7 days without any sweet junk now. Not sure it is sustainable long term to have nothing sweet at all but I’m not sure how long to try to keep it going at the start to get over the cravings?

HRTFT but protein protein protein. You’ll be so full you’ll not manage to binge anything. And this is coming from a binger!

I agree lots of protein is good but I don’t think it will stop emotional bingeing as that isn’t really about being hungry or full up.

Binge Eating Disorder is classified as a serious mental illness.

HamToasties · 26/04/2026 19:35

Try Intermittent fasting, it has changed my life. Worth reading Fast Like A Girl and the Obesity Code. I almost always stop eating at 7pm. After 2-3 months IF, try to cut added sugar down drastically. Then 2-3 months later, try to cut out most processed foods. Do it gradually. Your body will guide you and your appetite will mostly decrease.

I lost 1.5 stone and thrilled with that but have plateaued a bit as I went on holiday! I will get back on it though as my perimenopause symptoms almost totally disappeared. Also, 3 members of my family are diabetic/prediabetic and Intermittant Fasting is proven to help lower blood sugar levels and reverse prediabetis.

Well done, you’ve done brilliantly. I don’t think IF is recommended for people with a history of eating disorders like me though

it’s like there’s crack in sugar in so addicted and I cannot stop!

BEDanon · 26/04/2026 20:35

I’ve NC so I can join in
adding loads of fibre really seems to help me
my meals today - cottage cheese/chilli oil toast, strawberries, yoghurt and milled seeds, and a savoury yoghurt bowl
I did have some chocolate and 1 biscuit but no stupid amounts of it

On and off with various ED most of my life
I either restrict too much, SH or binge. My mum took me to a slimming club age 12 and it’s been downhill since then!

It seems to be more common than I realised to graduate from AN to BED. I couldn’t understand for years how I had lost my willpower to starve myself to end up bingeing

Perhaps it's your bodies way of just getting through diet fatigue. I, for one, have lost over 16 stone in my lifetime. Never, until recently, gained a solitary pound back. But, after 20 years of doing this, I'm exhausted and stopped caring for a few months. Sometimes, I just want a chocolate bar without flogging myself, afterwards.

No worries. I was just saying that swinging from one extreme to another is common because our bodies get tired of extreme restriction so swing the other to compensate for the fatigue. Sorry I didn't make it clearer. Hope you're okay today x I am struggling a bit, too, but that's always the case with me!

Yes, that does make sense to swing from one to the other
Would you feel comfortable sharing what you are struggling with as someone else on the thread may be able to offer suggestions which could help?

I find trying to add to my diet (which is what I’m doing now) is better than thinking about trying to restrict bingeing
so I’m thinking how can I add fibre to this or veg or fruit or more protein. Then I’m on the mindset that I’m eating more somehow. Plus fibre makes me incredibly satiated
