AIBU to be surprised that some people are still paid weekly?

I was talking to a family member yesterday evening and throughout conversation she told me that both her and her dh are paid weekly! I didn’t think anyone paid weekly anymore. I’m so so surprised. I’ve been paid monthly since my first job! Anyone else paid weekly? I would find that hard to manage I reckon.

I get paid 4 weekly which is I find annoying would much rather prefer monthly.

I've mostly been paid monthly but when I did supply or agency work it was weekly.

Now I'm on a mix of pension (taken early due to ill health) and benefits.

My pension is paid monthly
ESA is paid every two weeks
PIP is paid every 4 weeks

Sometimes I feel rich because all three hit my account in a couple of days.

My aunt used to be paid every 4 weeks, she liked it because it was like being paid monthly, then one month it feels like you are paid double.

My company employs some agency workers who are paid from £350 to £850 per day. All are paid weekly by their agencies, so it’s not just low paid workers who receive weekly pay.

The team at our place of work are paid weekly. I was until recently. We have offered to put people on monthly but I think some
would struggle with the transition as it’s what they’ve always known.
it is quite a traditional way to get paid. I hated getting paid weekly I found it much harder to budget.

I get paid monthly in my main job but I’ve got 2 locumn ad hoc jobs that I pick up a few shifts a month. One pays weekly and a I pay NI on it. The other pays monthly and I can do 2 shifts a month without paying NI.
I prefer monthly generally because I have a ton of payments that come out a few days after my main payday. I put most of my spending in a credit card and pay it monthly.

When we first lived together I was paid monthly and DH was paid weekly. It was brilliant for budgeting.

I had a friend who was paid every four weeks and got 13 wages a year. As long as he budgeted carefully, he could consider one wage a year as essentially free money as he’d get two wages that month and all of his monthly expenses had already been paid. He’d only have his day-to-day expenses to consider

Im in ireland - I think its common in construction & trades to be paid weekly. It makes no difference to me as I just plan either way.
