AIBU to consider Thailand or the Maldives with young children? Or elsewhere?

Looking for some nice holiday suggestions with a 1 and 5 year old. I was thinking either Thailand or the Maldives but really open to anywhere!

I’d like somewhere relaxing but where there’s also lots to do with the DC. We’ve previously enjoyed Sani, Ikos, Atlantis and JBH in Dubai, so looking for somewhere with a bit of luxury but a bit of adventure at the same time.

Read the OP again. (It's not real!).

Why on earth wouldn’t it be real?!

Not to mention flying all over the place with the resulting environmental damage 🙄

Do you never fly to go on holiday? Or would it be ok to take a plane somewhere as long as OP makes sure she’s staying in a NOT environmental friendly / ethical place?
Make this make sense 🙄

Thailand is great to explore with kids but probably ideally a bit older than yours when they can soak up a bit more of the culture differences etc.

Maldives I think is a very adult oriented holiday in general.

Would South Africa suit maybe? Or Bali? I would say both are a bit more kid-suitable.

It's not luxurious but for animal loving kids we have been to Beekse Bergen in the Netherlands where you can stay on safari. It was absolutely brilliant. It's a superb country to explore as well - the most family friendly place we have ever been.

Sorry, I still can't see why you think it's fake, can you explain please?

I definitely wouldn’t pick the Maldives. A lot of steps of travel to get to the island and not a lot to do with them once there. Especially as you’d have to keep them out of the sun for the middle of the day.

Thailand possibly. But be careful about what activities you expect. 90% of elephant sanctuaries there are not ethical. Any that allows humans to ride, bathe or hand feed the elephants is not ethical. Jet lag will be punishing.

I suggest Mauritius. Direct flight, little jetlag, very family friendly resorts (decent kids clubs) and some low key outings to do.
