Name changed for obvious reasons - ie avoidance of cyber bullies whilst expressing my true feelings on this. I was a lurker for quite a while, summed up the courage to post thinking that I had some good things to share and could be of help where appropriate. I think some of the threads are genuinely helpful and a great idea. However, I feel that some of them - probably this one included - is really a complete waste of time and energy. It seems to me that there are an awful lot of MNers who have nothing better to do than spend hours typing endless crap on these threads. Don't you have any "real life" friends to talk to?? Wouldn't you be better spending your life in the real world rather than exchanging endless ridiculous tittle tattle with one another? What are your kids doing whilst you spend hours on the computer?? Or your partners? I'm off to get a life.... why don't you??

fAf, are you really cross about the MN waffle? I mean, that's a bit of a pointless pastime in itself, no?

daftpunk · 19/06/2008 15:55

did this about 8 months ago, and have seen about 20 threads like it since..

give up and enjoy the boredom!

forgiveANDforget · 19/06/2008 15:55

actually brightongirl, i do know you and i have absolutely no problem with the reason that you are here - or you as a person.

Walnutshell · 19/06/2008 15:55

lolol at TFM!

SaintGeorge · 19/06/2008 15:56

But a point would make the carving itself so much easier do you not think Flashman?

Neat lines rather than jagged tears from a blunt pencil.

You see my point?

brightongirldownunder · 19/06/2008 15:56

Now you've got my grey cell -a -ticking...Clues?

sparklesandnowinefor4months · 19/06/2008 15:56

johnso is that you?

youcannotbeserious · 19/06/2008 15:56

FFS, FAF... What's your point?

You are a regular who hates being there? do you have issues about your RL life?

Why not accept MN for what it is? A great support network that you can choose to be a part of or not be a part of?

If you don't like it and think it sucks, then go and do something else?

Why be bitter?

forgiveANDforget · 19/06/2008 15:57

no sparkles - although i love her posts actually. totally pointless yet again but wow, don't they get you lot going?!!

ScottishMummy · 19/06/2008 15:57

Cor then tell us to get a life

DANCESwithLordPottingtonSmythe · 19/06/2008 15:57

Actually to a certain extent I do agree with the OP (my, it is uncomfy with this fence post up my bum) I waste LOADS of time on here when I could be doing much more productive things. I do sometimes wonder about the most popular mumsnetters, if they spend enough time on here to become well known/popular/controversial , what do they do in RL?

Having said all that, mumsnet is an invaluable resource and I can't count the number of times people on here have helped with with very serious and completely frivilous (sp?) problems.
Long live mumsnet but I'm off to do something productive now, thanks OP

SaintGeorge · 19/06/2008 15:58

To be fair, bitter is the way to go.

Lager is like gnats piss.

brightongirldownunder · 19/06/2008 15:58

I'm not sure if johnso would write this thread...

Nagapie · 19/06/2008 15:58

There is a flouncers corner y'know

ilovemydog · 19/06/2008 15:58

Can't you have both?

Plus aren't there some things that perhaps you can't talk to your real life friends about?

forgiveANDforget · 19/06/2008 15:59

No, i'm not ranting. I'm quite calm actually. unfortunately it is just your attitude SM that winds me up.

Aha! Methinks tis you yourself that is wasting time! And not even enjoying it.

"you lot" LOL!

SaintGeorge · 19/06/2008 16:02

Ah you know me Rhubs, Vodka every time. Just that the line wouldn't have worked as well

Poohbah · 19/06/2008 16:02

I agree fully but since it costs too much to drive to visit friends and friends are often at work or caring for babies and it is impossible to have a sane conversation then mumsnet is a good option. Easpecially as one can reveal ones true views instead of being nice not to offend all the time.

I think my mumsnet persona is alot more straitlaced and humourless than my real persona so maybe it is also an opportunity to express a different side of my personality.

I will probably kill this thread as I kill all threads.

forgiveANDforget · 19/06/2008 16:02

I realise there's nothing wrong with exchanging a few fun messages, but I do see the same posters on here day in, day out and sometimes not being particularly nice...

brightongirldownunder · 19/06/2008 16:03

Guinness tastes of dogs farts.
Give me a nice glass of plonk any day. Or maybe a G & T.
I'm waiting F & F.. make it something only I would know about..
