to think that if i buy fish on tuesday and put it in the fridge immediately (from a man in a van) it should still be fresh today?

It should be fine today, if it was fresh on Tuesday. Can't guarantee it was fresh...

Does it look slimy and smell very fishy?

auntyspan · 19/06/2008 14:55

that's bad - I usually keep fish at least 2/3 days and it's fine.

It can't have been very fresh unless your fridge is too warm or sommat.

Carp joke btw. (gedditt?? carp / crap??!)

i buy fish and cook it on the same day. domestic fridges are not cool enough to keep fish. you should freeze it if you want to store it. so yes yabu

auntyspan · 19/06/2008 15:01

lets face it all fish smells - give it a wash and cook it really well.

Worse case scenario you lose some weight?!

fresh fish doesn't smell.

Iota · 19/06/2008 15:08

like Shezza I always cook on the same day (I think Tescos print that on the label when you but it)

MrsBadger · 19/06/2008 15:10

yabu

fresh fish doesn't keep

the plastic-wrapped salmon bricks from Tesco are the fraeks and are packed in a modified 'protective' atmosphere so they last longer.

Iota · 19/06/2008 15:12

having read Mts B's post, just to clarify, I meant the fresh fish in Tescos, not the pre-pack stuff

nocluemum · 19/06/2008 15:18

I would think 2 days fine - 3 days pushing it and i am generally anal about that sort of thing
