AIBU to feel utter distressed at the Hold Muzak that I'm being bombarded with?

It's everywhere. I have one contact that I sometimes call where I am give the option of music, bird call, or silence. The rest is crazy.

I am currently on hold to DVLA. I have been trying to call them, as they have requested by post, for a week. Each time I have been told that they are too busy and have been cut off. I am now on hold, which is progress, but so far am forced to listen to their hideous hold music for 38mins and 40secs. And yes, through a tinny iPhone.

I have no choice but to have my ears bombarded by this. It is stressing me out.

Why in Gods name do we have to endure this shit?

Yes, dr's surgeries. I have complained to mine, but they say that it is out of their control, and provided by some NHS body.

What I find equally distressing about this (and yes, I do mean distressing) is that before you are bombarded with this crap you also have to listen to hour after hour (ok several minutes) of a womans voice telling you how to treat the staff, what to say, what not to say, etc etc etc.. I'm already well stressed before the muzak even starts. Sometimes I have to press keys to select the purpose of my call and get cut off because I cannot figure out the best number to press to get where I need to be. And no, I'm a definitely not stupid!

The choices of music that is selected, or created for the purpose, does absolutely sod all to reflect the tinny phone speaker too.

All in all it's a disaster. Perhaps I'll write some appropriate sounds and music myself.
