Regarding my training?

I’m in a new job and I have a training sessions in the afternoon (on teams). These are supposed to be 1.5 hours, but he’s regularly overruns and it’s easily got to 2 hours.

I find it difficult to actively concentrate for that long. I don’t know if that’s normal or others would struggle?

He also suggested that we have another call to continue at 6pm (he’s in a different country and is a few hours behind). My hours are 9-5. I don’t think this should be an expectation - as I wouldn’t be getting overtime pay and it’s not in my contract.

Two hours training isn't much, but I would decline working past my contracted hours.

Have you pointed out that this training falls outside your working hours? If they won't pay overtime will they give TOIL or suggest a later start?

I wouldnt be attending calls outside hours, as a mentor I also wouldnt be averse to being told that the sessions are too lengthy to enable full participation and concentration.

I wouldn't be working outside my contracted hours. However, if I felt a break was beneficial and I could take the information in better I'd ask for a 10 minute break between hour 1 and hour 2 (it'll need to start earlier maybe so you don't hit your 5pm clock off time).
