...to ask your honest thoughts when someone tells you they're a hairdresser?

First thoughts, any assumptions? Fully transparent and honest answers please, no judgement whether good/bad!

Also any hairdressers out there, what are your honest experiences and thoughts about the job? Do you enjoy, would you recommend it etc?

I think god I wish I’d trained as a hairdresser! God I wish I was friends with a hairdresser!!

that they must love chatting and that it must be exhausting!

I might think to ask them if they are salon or home based, what products they'd recommend, and I might consider visiting them for a cut.

That they are fucking Raking it in! ££s!!

I find it impressive! It’s a real skill to be able to cut and style hair and do a good job I think! I wish I’d wanted to train as a hairdresser. They always have work too.

Interest - its a creative job and I think most hairdressers go into it as a vocation.

I don't have any thoughts about that. What thoughts do you have? Are you a hairdresser and worried about how it comes across?

That I wish I had their talent and training.

Honestly? That they are a hairdresser?

Not very educated, dropped out after GCSE types that just went into hairdressing for an easy option. There are a small, incredibly talented minority however

That AI will not take their job.

I wouldn't think much of it tbh, my lovely hairdresser has become a good friend.

Great people skills and never short of work. AI isn't going to be cutting hair is it?

Assumption they are chatty and confident

Whay would i have any thoughts on anyone's job? Why would hairdressers be more special than anyone else doing any other job that people would think that much?

That they're probably pondering my raven's nest of a crone-crown, and wondering whether I condition my hair in a brew of rusty nails and nettle vinegar.

I wonder what shoes they wear, if they're judging my hair, if it's rude to ask them for their product recommendations for my hair and I think I wish I could be a hairdresser.

People person, creative and hopefully talented

Nothing. I must admit the ones I know aren’t degree educated but they still go to hairdressing school. And earn more than me. I’d do it if I could be arsed to train.

I couldn’t do your job

One of my best buddies is a hairdresser. What am I supposed to think? DD wanted to be a hairdresser for a while. Why is being a hairdresser different than any other career?

It's not that unusual a job is it? I don't think I'd think anything in particular. Compared with say, being a submariner or something. It's not that interesting (and I have a very uninteresting job myself)

I think they must be artistic and a visual sort of person which is something I admire as I’m not like that myself. I’d assume, perhaps incorrectly, that they could also do other practical things.
