Afternoon everyone

Scalp irritation and psoriasis/dandruff is driving me insane. Seems to have got worse since menopause . It's sore and inflammed and itchy and a little bit of blood in one or two places. Luckily I have blonde hair so it's not so noticeable unless I wear dark clothes.

Can anyone recommend a product that actually works (steroid lotion from doctor works well but I'd love a recommendation for something natural).

My hair is medium length amd would prefer something I can leave on that is easy to apply and not too greasy as I dont want to wash my hair every day. Thank you

So many things advertised online it's hard to know what to choose

Mine also drove me crazy during peri/menopause.

Not leave on, but after an initial treatment programme with Nizorel, I switched to Moo Goo shampo. That is natural. I still use Nizorel once a week to keep the itchy, irritation and flakes away and use Moo Goo the rest of the time.

However, it was a video on Tktok that made the biggest difference. You should wash your hair daily to prevent seborrheic dermatitis, build up of flakes etc and you should make sure you dry your scalp after washing to prevent the humidity that causes fungus, and flakes.

I was a wash 2/3 times a week and always leave to dry naturally so the prospect of daily washing horrified me but, every time I try to leave it an extra day, the itchy, scaly flakes appear!

The video was by a GP btw. She’d had her own hair issues and seen a trichologist.

I second Moo Goo shampoo - I had the steroid lotion for years, until my GP refused to prescribe any more, tried various shampoos and lotions and Moo Goo is the only one that has worked!

I saw your thread title and immediately thought of MooGoo, I see that other posters have already suggested it too. I love the fact MooGoo products are natural and effective.

My GP has recently stopped prescribing me the Betnovate scalp application. I’ve been given Dovobet which you put on overnight and then shampoo it out.
I am menopausal too and it’s got worse. It used to be just the back of my head and the nape of my neck, but for the past year it’s crept up to towards the front and nearer my ears.
I have just bought Body Shop ginger shampoo as people were raving about it.

Capasol shampoo shifted my Sons.

Mines been a real.pain since.peri hit

I find body shop ginger shampoo and conditioner has been the best.
I also stopped colouring my hair for a year to allow recovery
The Cornish seaweed company was good for making my hair feel stronger again but after time itchy flakey scalp came back so now I alternate the Cornish seaweed and body shop ginger.

My H also suffers with psoriasis on his scalp he has found an oat shampoo with minimal additives the best

Would MooGoo likely help a 5 year old who has cradle cap? We have been using Capasal which initially helped but she has started to get an itchy scalp and the cradle cap has returned. Her dad has psoriasis so I'm wondering if it might be more than just cradle cap.

Thanks so much everyone for all the advice

Lots of food for thoughtvthere!

Someone had mentioned about washing haircevery day n dry it off

As I wash my hair every third or fourth day and let it dry naturally maybe this could be a first step!

I will have another read through tge replies to see what others suggest. Thank you

I also have to wash hair daily to remove buildup, particularly if i exersize as the sweat will trigger a worse reaction also. I use Aveeno shampoo most days, and Vichy Dercos shampoo if it gets bad. Aveeno uses natural active ingredients, and many ezema, dermatitis and psoriasis sufferers find it effective.

It works for my 3 boys too.

I would give a japanese head spa a go and yes they do them with psoriasis etc. It gives a full clean to your scalp which you will see on the 'xray' type machine and will kick start a cleaner scalp and remove any dead skin on there to start you off.
