Easter no plans guilt

I care for 2 elderly family members (whilst working full time is my own family), see/call them most days, it’s draining and can be stressful.

I decided to take today to myself and catch up on house/walk with friend. Yet I feel guilty that I’ve not prepared a big lunch or taken them out. Although taking them out is hard work due to mobility issues.

AIBU having a selfish day?

Nothing wrong with having a day to yourself.

Why does it seem to be only you who is shouldering the load of caring for them?

Why are they not helping themselves? There are charities and other events they could get to - do they have no friends! I’d cut down the visits! Do you have dc who are missing out?

They have friends but they do things with their own family on key events.
I definitely need to re-think the support I give after Easter hols.

We never do anything for Easter, never have. Just isn’t a thing for us. Don’t feel guilty in the slightest.
