Seeing how many people are on taking about it like this is blowing my mind!

I have never suggested there's a real Easter Bunny, or made a thing of it, but dd has still managed to convince herself this year. I'm going along with it as it's clearly giving her pleasure, but other than our usual Easter egg hunt around the house, I won't be doing anything different.

SooPanda · 05/04/2026 00:16

We do the Easter bunny, hiding eggs with a little map etc, but I’ve never told my kids it’s “real”, they know it’s me and I don’t think they really care, they just enjoy the fun of it, the make believe.

DingleDungle · 05/04/2026 00:16

There's an Easter bunny tracker on Sky TV which is really odd.

What fresh hell is this?

TellMeWhatToWear · 05/04/2026 00:26

I’ve never gone with the Easter bunny being real. And am glad of that every year when people post about having to go in the garden at night to hide eggs, I’m quite content with my two having to sit on the sofa and wait while I go out and hide them after lunch!

SpiritAdder · 05/04/2026 00:28

I have always been clear that neither the Easter bunny or Santa are real.

This is interesting, I’ve always done Santa and tooth fairy, but the EB is a different entity.

I feel like it's more likely to come out that it's not real than santa and I don't really want him to connect those dots too early.

The tooth fairy! My DD got whatever the going rate was for a tooth ( I think it was about £1 then but we are talking more than 20 years ago) but it was always ironic, she was never under any illusion it was anyone else but us.

Easter bunny? No words.

But Father Christmas is obviously real.

Haha yes it is nonsense but I always believed in the tooth fairy as a child and my mum put great effort into leaving tiny notes, so I’ve done the same. It seems from reading the other threads that some people believed in EB as a child and do the same, I’ve just not really come across that so I’m curious.

I feel like the poll so far is about what I expected, but then probably this thread attracts the no EB types and the egg hiding ones etc attract the believers.

They were handing out carrots in the Asda, for the Easter Bunny. Tbf the children looked confused. The staff member had ears on. Disclaimer I have to say 'the Asda' coming from Liverpool.

I've always celebrated Easter as a mini Christmas, but never declared the EB to be real. My children had special personalised tooth fairy cushions and I do Christmas Eve boxes etc.

ReadingSoManyThreads · 05/04/2026 00:59

I've never mentioned the Easter Bunny as a thing, as I think it's fucking ridiculous. My children have heard of it but know it's not a thing.

bornwithhorns · 05/04/2026 01:00

I did the Easter bunny every year for my kids when they were young ? What’s wrong with a bit of magic

Ponderingwindow · 05/04/2026 01:02

We didn’t tell dd santa was real either. Nursery and peer pressure are powerful influences.

Meadowfinch · 05/04/2026 01:07

I don't know the percentages but I listened to a dad telling a 4yo girl, today in Tesco carpark, that the Easter bunny was a bit like Father Christmas. She wouldn't actually see him but he would hide Easter eggs in nana's garden on Saturday night.

I can hear our school rector revolving in his grave with fury. 😁 He hated anything other than ecclesiastical reverence for Easter.

ThatJadeLion · 05/04/2026 01:08

It's a little magic and fun. Of course he's real!!

^This. Previous years My DS was v. Kindly gifted eggs and they would sit in kitchen shelf on run up to Easter for him to look forward to. On Easter Sunday - I would hide said eggs and make up clues just for fun. Despite the fact the eggs were simply moved previous years- he has gone full pelt into Easter bunny - was on the countdown for the Easter bunny tracker to begin ! I was perplexed he was actually watching
i also share same concern that- Easter bunny, like the elf on shelf - just is weaker and will be worked out first

BashfulClam · 05/04/2026 01:09

My colleagues son had SEN and took everything literally. He saw someone dressed as the Easter bunny and said ‘mum his isn’t the real Easter bunny!’ She says ‘of course he is!’ He said ‘why has he got a zip up his back then?’ She had to explain he had helpers like Santas as she thought if she said the Easter Bunny was made up he might start questioning Santa etc.

Ozmumofboys3 · 05/04/2026 01:11

We never ‘did’ the Easter bunny, the kids always knew that eggs were from us. I was surprised the amount of their friends whose families did the Easter bunny. I had to tell my kids that some kids believed in the easter bunny and to keep quiet.

We did do the tooth fairy and Santa.

TempestTost · 05/04/2026 01:16

I've always treated Santa, The Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy the same. My eldest also believed in a fairy called Fairy Locks who I inadvertently created with no intent.

The older ones grey out of it by about ten. Though my youngest who is nine is still very into it.

InterestedDad37 · 05/04/2026 01:18

Spoiler alert puh-leeze! 🐇🐰🐣🤔😂

edwinbear · 05/04/2026 01:22

My DC are older now at 14 & 16, I’ve never explicitly told them Father Christmas, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny aren’t real. Obviously they know they’re not, but there was never a ‘big reveal’. DD sits with me whilst I order her very specific make up/clothes for Christmas to be sure I get the right things, but Christmas Eve I still tell them they can’t be stomping up and downstairs for food at midnight/having leisurely 10pm baths etc ‘or Father Christmas won’t come’. I put presents and stockings out whilst they’re hiding in their rooms.

DD needed 4 teeth extracted a year ago before having braces, kept the teeth and said in no uncertain terms she expected the tooth fairy to pay up for these ones 🤣 (the tooth fairy left her £20 for those, it wasn’t nice).

EB will be up before them tomorrow, which isn’t hard as they won’t emerge before about lunchtime, but he’ll have left them a couple of eggs. It’s just a bit of family fun really and they are happy to indulge me.

When my grandson was about 3 my DH dressed up as the Easter bunny - he appeared in our garden, waving at my grandson whilst scattering little eggs all over the lawn. My grandson ran out with his arms outstretched and gave the EB a massive hug. It was all very sweet.

A few months later I was scrolling through the pics on my phone and came across a photo of my DGS hugging the EB. I showed him it and said ‘oh look, there’s you….and who’s that?’

‘GRANDAD!’ he said 😐
