Went to boots today for some medication, they said it was prescription only . I then added it to basket and click and collected it . The woman was so rude to me! So rude !!! I then told her colleague … as I walked out, I wasn’t rude . She then shouted across the whole shop… you better not be talking about me!!!! Wow wow wow!!!!!

I’d 100% be complaining about her shouting across the shop at you (after you fixing her mistake). Arsehole.

Exactly this

Maybe she just meant that the pharmacist had to approve it, and s/he was at lunch?

AintNoPunshineWhenShesGone · 04/04/2026 16:50

Did you have the consultation with the Boots Pharmacist?

ilovesooty · 04/04/2026 16:50

So you didn't like being told that the medicine had to be approved by a pharmacist? Did you lose your temper with her?

RawBloomers · 04/04/2026 16:53

OhWise1 · 04/04/2026 16:48

Well, it has to be approved by a pharmacist before you can buy it. Perhaps a pharmacist wss not available in-store when you wanted to buy it, but an online pharmacist was.

Edited

That's no better - she was still telling OP she couldn't get a medicine without a prescription when she should be saying "Please come back in x minutes when the pharmacist is available".

Sirzy · 04/04/2026 16:54

I have never known a boots store do immediate click and collect.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 04/04/2026 16:55

Did you ask for Eviana? Because thats not for bleeding, its for menopause and only available on prescription. Maybe there was some confusion over what it was you were asking for but either way she doesnt sound like she was rude

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/04/2026 16:55

OP has disclosed that she has learning difficulties in many of her other threads.

That's not what happened. She was told it's prescription only, which is completely different to needing to be reviewed by a pharmacist.

It's okay, no worries.
It sounds like you've got a lot going on in your life at the moment.

Maybe this was the last straw in a very difficult couple of weeks.

If the assistant didn't explain well to you about the Evana, or she was plain wrong, I can see why you were upset.

Can you try to put it behind you? The assistant was annoyed because you kind of proved her wrong.

I hope your bleeding stops soon and you get your hysterectomy done ASAP.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 04/04/2026 17:02

I didn't think you could click and collect instantaneously

Boots website says

  • Order Online & Collect: If the item is in stock at your local branch, you can select "Click & Collect" at checkout for same-day pickup, usually within a few hours.
Sirzy · 04/04/2026 17:08

It can also depend what you answer when asked why you need it/if you have had it before.

I tried to purchase a drug from boots last year and when asked what it was for they couldn’t give it for that reason without prescription. Frustrating but I get it. (So I went to a different store and lied which I know is wrong but we had it prescribed it was just to tide over!)

endofthelinefinally · 04/04/2026 17:13

I will not go anywhere near my local Boots since the pharmacist shouted my confidential medical information all over the shop. Not just my name and address, but my diagnosis and the prescribed medication. I am sure everyone else in the queue and surrounding area were fascinated. You would think pharmacists would at least try to be discreet.

CaptainMyCaptain · 04/04/2026 17:26

TheOpalFox · 04/04/2026 16:32

She was like well you can’t buy it at all it’s prescriptions only then looked at me weird when I click and collected it lol

How was that rude?

If you asked for “Eveana” I would assume you meant Eviana, which is a POM.

Evana (tranexamic acid) is also a POM and can be ordered online from Boots, but needs to be approved by a pharmacist (usually a prescribing pharmacist).

You wouldn’t have been able to buy it OTC, so she wasn’t wrong about that. I feel a bit more context is needed; what exactly did she say? Her shouting down the shop at you was rude.

Sirzy · 04/04/2026 17:36

How long between you going in initially and then returning to collect?

BernardButlersBra · 04/04/2026 17:42

I would complain. I have had the exact same issue and they got very shirty. Not my fault they are wrong and l know they have are wrong -l am a qualified nurse. I’m not sure if it’s due to laziness, stupidity or lack of training
