To use DIY kitchens…

Hello, posting for traffic!! Following on from my thread about wren kitchens, I would love to ask the same question about DIY kitchens.

i’ve seen this supplier mentioned before on here, and I would love to know what peoples experiences have been with them. I know I can look at the reviews. But what was great about the other thread was hearing specific experiences, and being able to ask questions!

The showroom is at a distance from us, and we would need to go as I don’t want to buy blind online. So just checking if it’s worth it, would anyone feel comfortable to share the kind of savings they made by going through DIY?

any help, much appreciated! Or advice, or pitfalls or pros and cons. We have a layout in mind, so I aren’t wanting to design from scratch with them. We’re set on what we are doing.

thank you!

I definitely feel like this is less of a mixed bag than the wren kitchen feedback!!

We’ve just moved house and asked our bathroom/kitchen fitter round to quote for new main bath/ensuite while the was here we asked him about DIY kitchens and he was full of praise about quality, ease of installation and customer service sending replacement bits. He wasn’t very complimentary about howdens

Got nicer units with wooden doors for cheaper than we would have got MDF at Howdens. Little cock up with design in the corner which caused a headache with opening the dishwasher. Few things missing and that was a pain but the kitchen is lovely and I have no regrets except not questioning the design further.

We used DIY kitchens and had a great experience. So much cheaper than anywhere else. We didn't go up to the showroom in the end but that was because we were doing an easy small kitchen, next move will be a big kitchen and I'll buy more expensive door fronts. The whole fitted kitchen including 3 appliances was less than 2K about 5 years ago. One of the best things was the units all came fully assembled so my husband just put it together himself. Just make sure to measure properly.

Brilliant love my kitchen and the range of things you can do with them.

We went to the showroom, definitely felt like the quality was good, didn’t necessarily feel it was massively better than anywhere else, but I think I am going slightly mad looking at kitchens all the time at the moment! It feels a bit like Groundhog Day, because we are quite sure on style. I don’t think I thought some of the internal mechanisms were as good as some of what I saw in other places, but we didn’t probably explore enough.

Ultimately it’s definitely gonna come down to price, I do feel a bit intimidated by the design side, but we are definitely going to pursue it as an option, so thank you so much for everybody’s advice! We will get there!
