AIBU to think this diet plan could work for weight loss?

Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some advice!

My son told me this diet plan wasn’t going to work for my goals -AIBU to believe it very well could or is there actually room for improvement? He has a lot more knowledge of fitness and nutrition but I’m not so sure…

I’m a 39-year-old woman currently working on losing weight in a healthy, sustainable way while easing myself back into exercise. At the moment I’m focusing on bodyweight workouts, but I do plan to gradually introduce weights.

I’ve put together a daily meal plan and would love some input on what’s working well and where I could improve. My main goals are to lose fat, build lean muscle, and support my skin so I look and feel my best.

I’m also considering adding supplements—possibly something for skin, hair, and nails, ideally with collagen support. If anyone has recommendations or experience with this, I’d be really grateful.

To note: I am finding the food plan below very filling but am aware it’s likely not enough.

Thank you in advance! 🤍

AM - Three egg omelette with spinach & mushrooms

MID morning - Protein bar (I know there are mixed opinions on these but I find they help quell cravings for junk food)

Lunchtime - Greek yogurt with blueberries and raspberries

Evening - Chicken breast, white rice and tender stem brocoli

I drink a lot of herbal tea and water throughout the day with the odd cup of coffee here and there. Mostly green tea with matcha and ginger tea. Are there any other drinks I could have that would help with my goals?

What plan are you following though? Are you aiming to be low fat or low carb or low calorie?

Calorie deficit.
Lots of water.
Eat lean meat and whole foods to feel satiated.

Some people swear by element powders (LMNT) for electrolytes etc, but I've never tried them.
Best of luck

... and what are your specific goals?

It’s very similar to my diet, though I add nuts to the yogurt for extra protein and to keep me fuller. I am in the best shape I’ve ever been in - I’m 50, bmi is 19.9, body fat 21% so it definitely works! I also have loads of energy and sleep really well. Eating like this has changed my life - seriously. I don’t ever crave junk or chocolate or anything and I love feeling like I am fuelling my body really well. Do it!

Fibre is really important - I would add seeded sourdough toast with breakfast, oats and chia seeds at lunchtime and swap the white rice for quinoa or whole grain rice. But I am tall and exercise so I do need more calories, everyone is different!

I think the best thing to do would be log everything in a calorie counting app (I use MyFitnessPal) to check how much you’re consuming vs how much you actually need.
