Could it be the clock change?

Dc, almost 8 is very active and hyper sometimes, but the last couple of days she just will not stop-running from the garden to inside, back and forth, jumping on the sofa
Wondering if the clock change can do this? She’s always been sensitive to changes in sleep and needs enough, but this is crazy

Yes, it could be before the clock change actually that mine was taking longer to fall
asleep, which makes even less sense! She just won’t stop

Mine is ND and absolutely does this with the clock change. Almost manic energy.

verabarbleen · 01/04/2026 19:28

Mine are crazy nearly 5 and nearly 7 also have a 5 month old. I just put it down to the Easter holidays 😂 I love the lighter evenings but going to bed when it’s light is hard to explain!

Rituelec · 01/04/2026 19:43

Yeah. She's been so relentless. Trampoline, running, constantly asking me things, just being non stop!

Surroundedbyfools · 01/04/2026 19:45

My 2 year old has been off the wall since he left my womb but especially bad atm I literally feel like I’m dying at the end of every day. I get 2/3 hours break from him then he climbs into my bed to kick me all night !!

Dr13Hadley · 01/04/2026 19:46

My 9yo DS is like this at the moment. It’s a full moon tonight maybe that’s it?! Only half joking. Both mine go feral around the full moon and my mum (retired psychiatric nurse) said patients were always worse behaviour-wise at the full moon 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are they like this at the moment? How long does it last and how to help? Yes very manic, just won’t sleep easily but obviously needs to

Mine too, my four year old has been refusing going to bed this whole week and he's not normally like this, he's also struggling to get up in the morning, it's definitely the clock change. I feel it too, I'm struggling and feel groggy and not like myself. It's weird. My DH is fine and so is my oldest boy, who is actually disabled and autistic, I'd have expected him to struggle more but he's been ok actually.

I think it's if your circadian rhythms are okay and work with changes. Some people's are better than others. It's fascinating to look up. Apparently there are actually increases of strokes and heart attacks when the clocks go forward! So it does have an impact on not just sleep.

malificent7 · 01/04/2026 21:11

Its a full moon. I totally believe it makes us a bit manic!

Acutissima · 02/04/2026 20:25

@Headhurtsheadhurtsheadhurts Nothing cures it 😂 Lots of outside time (more considered stuff too like gardening, not just sprinting about). Less sugar. More protein. Mine is heading towards the end of primary school but often still ends up sleeping in my bed because they just CANNOT settle.

user1476613140 · 02/04/2026 20:28

Mine has had several meltdowns (8yo) since getting out of school. Fast asleep by 7.45pm though. He's so exhausted from all the excitement at school re: Easter.

snoopyfanaccountant · 02/04/2026 20:30

I have spent yesterday evening with a dozen 8 to 11 year olds and it was carnage. Even our normally best behaved children were wiping PVA glue on one another and covering their faces in foam stickers. I'm not sure whether it was because of the clocks changing or whether it was excitement that school was finishing today for the holidays.

BethBynnag86 · 02/04/2026 20:58

DGC7 has been bonkers over the past few days.Possibly also v.excited at coming to ours and there's been constant chatter about the Easter Bunny.

Lovemybunnies · 02/04/2026 21:07

It is the full moon. My two teen DD were very wound up yesterday and our 8 year old dog was the same. My DM said it always affected the children she taught and BiL was in the police and said the police dreaded a full moon.
