Free cake in Tupperware “breach”

I work in an office and like any office, people bring in cakes for any old reason.

Most people eat their cake there and then at their desk, with a brew. However, one colleague takes a cake, puts it in a Tupperware container, and takes it home to eat at the weekend.

She does this because she’s very much into her her health and fitness (and looks great for it) and Saturday is her “cheat day”.

For some reason, some of our colleagues are utterly incensed about this practice of removing the cake in Tupperware. I can’t see the fuss myself, don’t care whether she eats it on the day or at the weekend, but some are acting like she’s breached some unwritten cardinal rule of office etiquette.

Surely my Tupperware colleague isn't being unreasonable?

PS - It’s not me. I eat on the day.

In my work bringing in treats is generally intended to be fun and social. I work in a small business with about 8 people. My colleague brings in tiramisu that he makes for us, I think he would be insulted if I scraped it into a box to take home.
If I go to the trouble of making a batch of shortbread and everyone pops them in their bags, I don’t get the warm fuzzy feeling of everyone telling me how delicious they are! Even if I buy a cake for everyone it feels pretty tight to take a piece home.

Does Tupperware colleague ever bring in cakes to share?

I’d be really chuffed that the cake I’d brought was considered delicious enough for top billing on someone’s cheat day!

Sounds like they have food issues

If I was Queen of the World I'd ban office cake. The bloody drama! Eating a soggy, horrible slice of cake whilst smiling and profusely thanking the baker. Finding a way to politely turn down a slice of cake from someone who I know allows her cats on the worktops. The PA comments when someone says they want to take cake home for their dc rather than eat at work. God I'm a fun sponge!
