to think that sponsor forms shouldn't offer prizes to those who get more sponsership money ?

ds has brought home another sponsor form raising money for school, last one two months ago
It has a picture of prizes on the back of what he will get dependant on the money he raises up to £15 , £15+, £30+ etc
It then states a 'portion' of the fund goes to covering the cost of prizes !

yep i hate this too, we just "paid "$14 dollars for skipping rope.

Weegiemum · 18/06/2008 16:20

YANBU This is not on. Some people have parents who can take these forms into work and get 3 million sponsors. Others don't. And I dont want to give my money (for a good cause) to give presents to people who can do that kind of thing.

I'd complain to the school.

And obviously it's a packet of stickers for a small sponsor up to £15
then a certificate, sticker book, football, stickers for the larger sponsor !
Guess what ds wants.

objectionable to give prizes to those with the most generous family/social circle. even more objectionable that "charity" money is used for the prizes.

lilyloo · 18/06/2008 16:34

Can imagine how the kids are going to feel when they have done their best at event then some of them get a 'bigger' reward than others, it's not right.
Also do we tell sponsors their money may be used to buy a football?

YANBU. I suggest you just "lose" the form.

muggglewump · 18/06/2008 16:38

YANBU
I've heard of this although luckily our school doesn't do it.
I'd bloody complain if it did though. I usually just give DD whatever I can afford and bypass the sponsor bit but I'd hate her to feel pressured (sp?) into squeezing money out of folk for a prize.
Hideous and awful practice

We had something similar to this recently. All they had to do was list 26 countries, but they had to raise over £26 to get the prize they all wanted.

Guess whose daughter didn't send for forms back?

Turniphead see it can scar for life !
