AIBU to worry about reheating frozen chilli after forgetting to defrost?

Asked husband to get the chilli out this morning to defrost for dinner. We were in a bit of a rush to go out so he forgot and has only just realised now when I’ve asked about it. Can we heat it up from frozen and will it be safe? And how do we do that safely?

Yes just heat it in the microwave.

Most microwaves have a defrost setting. It’ll be fine.

Yes just heat it in the microwave.

Thanks is that on the defrost setting? Do we defrost in the microwave and then pop it in a pan to heat on the hob? Can we defrost the whole thing in a pan on the hob instead of the microwave?

Just heat it up to piping hot (over 75 degrees for a few minutes if you have thermometer probe). In a pan, initially on low with a lid on, is fine. You might want to add a little water for evaporation.

Doesn't matter if you defrost first or just heat it to piping hot straight away. Frozen chilli is totally fine to heat up direct from frozen. So yes you can just heat it in a pan.

Yes, if course. Put some water in the bottom if the pan and heat it gently at first, so that the chilli doesn't burn before it's thawed out. Keep stirring frequently until it's no longer a frozen lump and then put the lid on the pan turn up the heat.
