AIBU to want sports bra recommendations that are supportive and easy on/off?

Sports bras - it’s my fear that I will die trying to get one on or off, strangle myself and be found topless by my children.

I’m relatively large boobed (d cup) and I want to run without looking like I’m going to poke my own eye out with my tits. I would also like to put one on without feeling like a badly trained magician.

aibu to ask you for sports bra recommendations that actually work? Ie that are relatively easy to take on and off, and stop your boobs from bouncing in opposite directions when you run?

I fear you are looking for a unicorn.

WhosGotTheKeysToMyBimma · 27/03/2026 10:06

Yeah, I'm also fearing this is an endless pursuit of a unicorn

As a D cup myself the only sports bras I've found which are supportive enough for running are ones which are a proper bra that does up in the back.

The older I get the less my wrists and shoulders like it because they have to be tight round the band 😥

I could only wear the crop top type when I was 5kg lighter. The ones that zip up in the front are not supportive enough either but they are good for gym workouts and yoga

The M&S high impact one which zips up the front. Really supportive and super easy to get on and off.

Panache sports bras are also brilliant and fasten at the back like a normal bra.

TemporarilyInsane · 27/03/2026 10:09

Thanks @WhereAreWeNow l will look at panache.
i can’t get on with front fastening ones - my boobs just spring out like a jack in the box

I wear a Champion Shock Absorber and it is that unicorn! Im a DD and find it supportive, comfortable, doesn’t chafe.

It does up at the back but I can fasten it in front then move it round. It has a clip that pulls the straps together at the back of the shoulders and as long as you can get your arms above your head I found it reasonably easy to manage.

it’s changed my life!

Definitely sounds like Panache is for you then. They do underwired and non wired versions. I prefer non wired. Both are pretty snug on the band so you might want to go up a band size. Quite pricey but often on sale on sites like Brastop.

mrssquidink · 27/03/2026 10:15

Fellow D cup here and I too fear you are looking for a unicorn. Like pp I really like the shock absorber and do it up at the front and move it round. I’ve also got an M&S good move sports bra that does up at the back; it’s fine, but not quite as good as the shock absorber in my view.

Might go and investigate the Panache ones now!

MissFLemon · 27/03/2026 10:20

I wear two M&S ones together. A back fastening one and a front zip one over the top. Nothing moves and the under bra makes fastening the zipped one easier.

KarenPirie · 27/03/2026 10:24

Easy to get on and off and really supportive. They even do Zoom fittings which I found really helpful.

I'm a 30f and have a front fastening shock absorber there's no way my boobs can spring out the front

I notice that a lot of the styles seem more like they'd be worn without a top, suggesting a certain aesthetic. Like the OP I'd just like to be able to exercise without uncontrollable boobs getting in the way.

And why do so many sports bras stop at such small sizes?

Are you expected to be a petite gym bunny to buy a sports bra? Or is that just their target market?

Davros · 27/03/2026 10:57

I like the look of those M&S zip front bras but I need a pocket for a prosthetic. Does anyone know if they have one, it isn’t mentioned on the website?

Becomingolder · 27/03/2026 10:59

Panache endurance. Im a G cup and I swear that it is witchcraft. No monoboob and so comfy

WheretheFishesareFrightening · 27/03/2026 11:04

I’m a D/DD. I bought one of these once when I had a physio appointment and had gone out in a totally unsuitable bra without thinking. I bought it because it was about £3 on sale (in a different colour than what’s available now) and was begrudgingly buying a new sports bra.

Well it’s the best bra I’ve ever bought. It’s my go to sports bra and my go to comfy bra too. Highly recommend

I am a G cup. Sports bras are absolutely useless. For running I recommend a proper "granny" bra, the Triumph Doreen. Steady as a pair of rocks.

cornflakegirl · 27/03/2026 16:31

I'm an H cup and I wear a Bravissimo Inspire High Impact sports bra, with a band one size bigger than normal. It's underwired and encapsulates rather than compressing. It's very supportive and great for running and zumba.

TON618 · 27/03/2026 20:40

Shock Absorber. You can't tell you have boobs, even running or doing martial arts. They can easily last a decade or more.
I'm too lazy to unfasten it properly and just pull it over my head like a t-shirt. That's easy enough.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 27/03/2026 20:54

I was kindly treated to a sports bra from Rigby and Peller for Christmas.

It is the unicorn. I wear an H Cup, and it works like a dream.
It was expensive, but worth every penny.
