Invisibobble?

I’m posting here for traffic. I have thick curly hair but I straighten it most of the time. I need to put it up in a ponytail for work. Are invisibobble's any good? I’ve been looking at them but they're a bit pricey so I’m not sure if they are worth it or not.

For me they are no different to an ordinary bobble. They aren’t invisible either! The standard brown ones are less visible imo.

MaJoady · 26/03/2026 09:59

I like them, but I have fine straight hair. They grip my hair better than elastic bobble.

I think the "invisible" bit is about the fact that they don't leave (as much of) a kink in your hair when you take your hair down.

LifeBeginsToday · 26/03/2026 10:05

I like them, but my hair is kept curly. They last forever so are a one off investment.

kitchendoors · 26/03/2026 10:06

I prefer silk bobbles

I have thick curly hair and keep it styled straight. I don’t like invisibobble (after a period of wearing them). I much prefer the fabric bands.

OperationalSupport · 26/03/2026 10:08

If you mean the curly telephone wire type ones, I like them, I have quite fine hair and regular bobbles often slip loose.
You can buy that type quite inexpensively in supermarkets, primark, on AliExpress.

katmarie · 26/03/2026 10:10

I found they still caused breakage, my hair is quite fine though. I tend to stick to fabric covered hairbands to avoid breakage as much as possible now.

My adult DD has very thick straight hair, she’s tried them and says the best ones are the brown ones ? Don’t know why. But she wears her hair up every day in a pony tail or messy bun and has had the same one for ages

Oh do they never stretch out or snap?

Oh that’s good, I may try them

I didn’t find them particularly different to a normal bobble but if they stretch out you can put them in boiling water and they coil right back up!

BlueMum16 · 26/03/2026 11:33

Daft question....do you just twist and double these up like a standard bobble? DD has really thick long hair and bobbles constantly slip

Oh I didn’t know that

Just got some from Home Bargains so I’ll try them

I have very long thick hair, I don’t rate them. They always stretch out from the weight of my hair!

Noshadelamp · 26/03/2026 16:52

I used to use them but then realised I was still getting breakage.
Changed to skinny silk/satin scrunchies and they're so much better!

Cuppachuchu · 26/03/2026 16:55

I prefer silky or velvet scrunchies as less breakage.
