Full length giant mirrors , propped up in people's homes , are they safe ?

I have seen some beautiful free standing full length mirrors in people's homes.

Am I being unreasonable in thinking that they are not safe to be just propped up in the corner or a room ?

I agree they should be fixed.

But a large, framed (and therefore heavy) mirror leaning back against the wall would take a reasonable amount of strength to pull forward. A small crawling baby pulling at the bottom would be more likely to pull the bottom outwards and have it fall that way, rather than falling forwards on top of them. Plus they can’t be climbed.

As I said, I think they should’ve attached to the wall. But I don’t think they pose a huge danger.

I have one and the top edge is fixed to wall

Certainly not a safe way of checking your appearance. The tilt is absurdly flattering and can lead to extreme feelings of disappointment when you see yourself in another mirror, and realise that you have not after all hit on the perfect outfit that makes you look tall, slim and elegant.

I have one in my spare room.

It has a fixing that attaches it to the wall on the top edge so it can’t slip downwards or fall forwards. I don’t have small children, but I do have a cat who likes to fight the cat in the mirror

You can’t see the fixing from the front so maybe people would assume it’s just leaning against the wall?

Better on the wall. As an additional safety measure you can get safety film that you stick on the back.

Better to wall mount it so you don't get a distorted reflection. I don't understand just propping a mirror up, either wall mount it or get a proper free standing one with feet.
