AIBU to be grossed out by toddler pooing in nursery drain?

Whilst waiting to pick up my 3YO from nursery, I watched another parent pick up their child (age 2-3 yrs, in another room), the child said they needed the toilet and dad proceeded to hold his bum over the drain outside whilst he weed and pooed down it. This drain is about 3 meters from the nursery door. Granted I think the poo went down the grid but I was totally grossed out by this.

I think the parents should have either taken him back inside to go to the toilet, or if he keeps holding in his poos whilst at nursery (as I heard mum say) then bring a potty or have him go in his nappy.

AIBU?! Would you say something to the nursery?

YANBU but I've done the same over street drains with children of that age. When they gotta go, they gotta go - verbalising that they need to is an achievement for many toddlers.

They would do better to bring his potty, though.

No choice at the time.

Back then, there were no potties with lids or I'd have had one in the bag. Luckily for everyone, she toilet trained really fast once she'd begun. There were a couple of incidents, though. She learned to speak properly just as suddenly, at the same time. Her first sentence, delivered ever so clearly in a cut-glass accent, was "Oh dear, the little bugger's shit on the living room carpet" 😳😂

I did that once with DD, held her over the grid for a wee, and she did a Poo … without any sort of warning.

DD had a problem when younger, that she ended up on medication for, where she had very little warning that she needed a wee, so yea we used grids.

That's disgusting. Maybe miles from a loo, fair enough, but outside nursery!
