Advice please, regarding magnesium to help with 'normal' bowel movements. Tried probiotics but found them too strong, tummy pains, awful night sweats and dry mouth.
I have a double prolapse, and after a proctogram and colonoscopy test they found that I have a tortuous colon and my rectum does not push out poop effectively. I was discharged by the consultant after the tests, with no support, told there was nothing they could do. In a lot of pain, down my right buttock, hip and leg. Take ibuprofen, fybogel and laxido, laxatives when desperate. Iused to take mebeverine, but stopped as the pharmacist said they were for IBS, not sure if I need to start them again?
I have increased fibre and liquid, but not sure if I'm eating too much fibre now. Any advice please. Thankyou

I take magnesium citrate tablets to help me poo (and a lot of water) they're an osmotic laxative so work by drawing water into you poop

2nd opinion. Referral to St Marks Hospital if your docs cannot help

If your problems are caused by prolapse, you could try joining the FPOPS fbook group (female pelvic organ prolapse support UK). Not sure I am allowed to add a link to the group but search the above term in Facebook and it should come up. There will be others with experience of this.

I am in a similar position, awaiting proctogram.

I have found smoothies made with skin-on kiwi plus ground flaxseed plus frozen mango and frozen raspberries and a big glug of prune juice helpful. If you increase fibre make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Try soaking chia seeds in a bottle of water for 20 mins then drinking that throughout the morning.

A pelvic floor physio specialist may be able to help with advice and exercises.

Happy to share any advice I get once I have had my proctogram!
