AIBU to avoid flying via USA?

Taking kids to visit my brother near the US border in Canada at Christmas. Flying into the nearest airport in America is around £1k cheaper for the three of us. But I'm wondering whether that is risky in the current climate.

So AIBU to spend an extra grand flying direct to Canada instead of saving money by flying into the States?

It is unlikely to be an issue, just make sure you have your ESTA or applicable visa in place. I’ve been to the US this year and have a few trips planned for the rest of the year too.

Why would it be risky? To be frank OP, unless you’re from a minority group or your DC have a different surname to you then you really have nothing to worry about. I was in NYC for business reasons last month and immigration felt no different to years previous. I wouldn’t actively choose to visit the US at the moment but a quick layover is worth saving £1k.

Flew through the US last week, no issues whatsoever.
