I've lost two stone with one still to go, without injections. It's mainly been reducing portions and powerwalking. I try to walk four times a week but the weather doesn't always co-operate! It's been slow but steady, and I'm quite happy with that.

Yeah! Me. My plan is to eat sensibly.

Cleared out my cupboards yesterday.

I’m a size 14/16. About 12 stone ATM.

NewNewForest · 18/03/2026 10:59

Yes I have lost 2 stone since Christmas by eating less.
I don’t have biscuits, cake unless it’s part of an occasion and it would be rude not to partake.
I portion my meals out like a lower primary school child sized.
I am losing weight and am not hungry and don’t feel hard done by.

Yes, hopefully better weather as we approach Easter. I’ve been out more already!

I lost 2 stone about 5 years ago with calorie counting (WW) and running twice a week. It's piled back on and I'm 5lb into losing it again with weightlossresources (couldn't get on with the new WW) and running / exercising.

It really is as simple as eat less move more, and stay in a calorie deficit. It's just a matter of having the self restraint and self discipline to stick with it!

Me.

Gardenquestion22 · 18/03/2026 11:06

I'm 57. I was 3 stone overweight - and have lost 1.5 stone by basically eating better. I'd got stuck in a pattern of eating fairly healthily - but too much and then having a snack of wine and cheese and toast most nights on top of what I was eating. It's taken a year.

I rarely eat snacks/biscuits/cake at work now. Rarely eat after dinner at home. I'm eating more protein and fibre, a lot more fibre. There is veg with every meal, or a salad and I add beans and lentils to everything like it's going out of fashion. Rarely have a drink in the week now.

I make soups or bean stews and take them to work for lunch.

I've also joined a gym - weights - but that is really more for strength than anything else.

I don't often get that crashing hunger any more which helps.

I've got a stone and a half really to lose still. My plan is to stop the inbetween finishing work and having dinner snacking - by going for a walk or having a banana or something about 4.30 -ish.

I would be too.

Plus there's a size 14 with a zip and button and a size 14 with a stretchy waistband.

I’ve been losing weight for about 4 weeks by amending my diet and increasing my activity.

My diet is high protein, mainly whole foods. For example, breakfast is Greek yoghurt, sprinkling of berries, chia seeds, sometimes some nuts.

I weigh and calorie count to ensure I’m staying in deficit.

I’ve increased activity by walking more places, and I’m looking for a PT so I can start weight training.

I tried them and felt very unwell on them, Even on very low doses my digestion just ground to a halt and I was so uncomfortable and exhausted even though I was doing all the things I was supposed to be doing. Even the thought of them now makes me feel ill. I've still lost a lot without them and although I shouldn't say I think I look better than my sister who lost her weight faster on the jab but now looks older in the face and with loose skin when I didn't really suffer that even though we've over all last the same amount. Also I am keeping my weight off and feeling good while she has been putting weight back on and is going back on the jab.

I think the jabs can be great for people but there are upsides to doing it without them too even if it takes longer.

I don’t get hungry between meals eating sensibly like this, maybe once or twice and I’ve eaten a banana or some grapes.
Honestly not trying to sound like one of those smug diety people, genuinely not hungry by having eggs for breakfast, meaty soup or a sarnie for lunch and then dinner about 7pm.

I do get bored though and that can feel like the same thing as hunger in my stomach….Check yourself on that. Best cure for that is getting the blood circulating - a hop skip and jump about or run up and down the stairs and then a cup of tea!

I’m classed as obese (and unfortunately I am, made worse by disability affecting my mobility)and I suddenly gave myself the mental kick up the bum I needed and researched exercise machines that I can actually use (chose a stair stepper cardio machine) and bought it before I changed my mind and I have joined the NHS 12 week loss program and I bought myself a “PE Kit” and set a strict time 5 days a week to exercise.

With the exercise, I’m starting slowly (can’t do over five minutes in one go yet but hey, it’s five minutes of moderate cardio more each day than I WAS doing and it’s burning the calories and even after 2 sessions, my speed had improved by over a minute. I forgot how exhausting proper cardio is (and my leg muscles especially moaned about it the next day) but it’s also exhilarating and almost instantly I was sleeping better and I haven’t even completed my first week yet.

i have noticed that the NHS food diary calorie counter has a small database but that’s easily overcome by just checking calorie quantities in food yourself and adding it to your personalised diary.

I’d actually thought I ate pretty healthily with lots of fresh veg and fruit etc but since starting to actually calorie count, I have had some surprising results such as 2 pieces of wholemeal toast with plain scrambled egg (2 eggs) made without milk or butter are much higher in calories than boiled eggs on wholemeal toast, so now I just boil the eggs and slice them onto the toast.

I have noticed already that my attitude is changing regarding food and I even declined cake on my birthday the other day.

i’ve lost just over 1lb so hopefully I’m on target for my 2lb weekly goal, but if I don’t manage it this week, I’ll try harder next week.

Good luck everyone x

I lost 3.5 stone last year (at 50/51) by giving up alcohol, refined carbs (not all carbs), UPFs and taking up strength training. It was slow going, averaging a pound a week, and in previous attempts I would give up far too soon in the process and then tell myself it was impossible. This isn't me claiming any expertise in weight loss, just a reassurance to you OP and others reading that it is very much possible to lose weight without WLIs even when you feel like it isn't.

What I will say is that it became a lifestyle change and that really helped me. I am still following the same process now. Weight loss has very much slowed down, which is fine - I have lost a total of 3 pounds this year. But because it has become a lifestyle change/ habit, it means I don't need to use up precious willpower trying to keep at it.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 18/03/2026 14:12

Yes I have lost around 2 stone and have more to go. Focused on protein, calorie restriction, changing habits slowly over time so it is sustainable. Also doing strength training.

katgab · 18/03/2026 15:30

I’ve lost almost a stone since last November with regular cardio 3/4 times a week and once a week weights and total diet change. I’ve got about another 4 stone to go. Totally changed my eating - more fruit and veg, regular protein, minimal upfs and cooking pretty much everything from scratch . I’ve been going through an awful menopause and have finally decided to wean off hrt as it wasn’t helping despite several changes of meds. Also the stress of caring for my elderly mum for the last few years left me with little time to take care of myself and comfort eating. I have lost weight before with similar habits but sadly this time I’ve got much more to lose.

HurdyGurdy19 · 18/03/2026 17:31

I've lost 3st since September, without WLI.

I've literally just eaten less and moved more. I realised that my problem was portion control and I always used to eat healthily, but too much of it.

I use the Nutracheck app to track calories and exercise, and make sure I eat up to my calorie allowance for weight loss. I sometimes eat back the calories I "earn" from exercise, but not often. If I do, it'll be on snacks, such as a packet of crisps, or some chocolate, or my latest obsession, roasted and salted pistacchio nuts.

I've never eaten breakfast, so my first meal of the day is around 11-12noon. If I'm not hungry-hungry, I will just have some Greek yogurt with fruit, seeds and a drizzle of maple syrup. If I am feeling quite hungry, I will have a salad with chicken breast, or sardines on protein toast, or scrambled/poached eggs on protein toast, cheese and onion or tomato toastie, soup with fancy bread (usually home made soup, but otherwise one of the nicer supermarket ones). Mostly I cook from scratch.

Evening meals are usually around 500 calories, from one of the cookery books I have gathered over the years - Two Chubby Cubs, The Slimming Foodie, Slimming Eats, with lots of vegetables on the side.

Exercise wise, I have a walking pad at home, which is permanently set up in a corner of the dining room (because I know I'd not bother faffing around getting it out if I stored it) and I either do 30 minutes Japanese Walking on it whilst watching Corrie, or there is an app you can download with mine, where you can choose various walks follow on a screen whilst you're walking. I like the forests and beaches, and I'll do a 4mph walk on that for about an hour.

I also have a smart hula hoop, which I do for 45-60 minutes a day (depending on how bored I get with it), and a vibration board (I call it my wobble board) which I do 3-4 times a day in 10 minute bursts (I can do this whilst I'm working). I don't know if the wobble board is even doing anything, but I don't think it can be doing any harm, so I'll keep at it.

I was referred by my GP to a weight loss programme, but they were useless - couldn't get in touch with them to get started, and when I did, the first virtual appointment they offered me was at the end of May. I decided that it wasn't worth it, for me, as whatever I was doing was working, as I was losing weight.

The GP also referred me to the 12 week Step Into Wellness programme which I've just done week 7 of and really enjoying it. We have a 15 minute talk on various aspects of health etc, then a 45 minute low impact aerobic circuit, which I am also doing at home.
