My ds was attending swimming lessons. He was in the highest stage and was getting fed up with it but I wanted him to complete the stage. However the centre kept moving the goalposts in terms of the things he had to meet. They kept adding more things in on the app making it harder to pass the stage.
Then, suddenly after Xmas they changed all the times and added even more challenges. So whereas Ds was on say 70% complete he went down to 20% because of the extra targets.
We couldn’t make the new time and ds was fed up so I said I wanted to cancel. I was told over the phone to fill in their online contact form giving 4 weeks notice and that I could cancel my direct debit after February’s payment.
I did this on around 7th Jan, so I’d paid in Jan then paid again in Feb and cancelled the direct debit ahead of the March payment.
I assumed it was all sorted, but now the centre have emailed me saying that I owe £65, which is two months fees.
I replied to say I’d cancelled the lessons and I got a reply saying that cancelling the direct debit doesn’t mean that the lessons are cancelled and that I was supposed to contact them.
i replied to say that I DID contact them, way back in Jan. The person then replied to say that the email wasn’t received until 16th Feb and that I must ring up to make payment of £65 immediately.
Surely it’s not my fault that no one picked up my email? Trouble is I have no proof of what the person I spoke to said, or of when I sent the email, because it was an online form.
Wwyd? I don’t see why I should pay for two months of lessons, the lessons are paid in advance so even if we went from 16th Feb I paid for Feb so why should I have to pay for March and April too?
