AIBU to feel uncomfortable seeing “Alhamdulillah” all over LinkedIn?

I’ve noticed a growing number of posts (often from younger people) announcing jobs or internships and ending with “Alhamdulillah”, or including this term in the comments.

Before anyone piles in, I’m not criticising anyone’s beliefs. People can say what they like.

But LinkedIn is supposed to be a professional space, and I do find it a bit uncomfortable seeing religious phrases brought into it so prominently.
It gives me the same awkward feeling as when you’re in the US and people bring God into work conversations - fine for them, but not something I’d expect in a professional setting and on a public social media platform, and the UK.

Is this just a generational/cultural shift and I need to get over it? Or does anyone else find it a bit jarring too?

I thought the only point of LinkedIn in 2026 is to propagate pronouns ?

I am reminded of a family friend who used to say "Gesundheit" when people sneezed despite neither us or them being German. They said it was the only word they remembered from school in the 50s, when a lot of teachers were ex forces.

I've also heard more than one "Hallelujah !" when a poorly system has been magicked back to life.

I have two young people at university. They dislike lots of comments on LinkedIn but this isn’t one of them. They haven’t noticed this supposed influx of religious language. If they have, they haven’t seen it as worth mentioning it.

They cringe more about people’s show off comments and stealth boasting on LinkedIn!

Some Muslims I think feel that they have to use this phrase out of gratitude and respect. That they don’t want to talk about something positive without immediately giving gratitude to Allah. It is automatic and not harming anyone. Apart from you, it seems.

Anyway, what exactly makes you feel soooo uncomfortable about it?

Frankly I would be far more insulted by the wanky managementspeak that boils down to 1,001 reasons why we won't pay you what you are worth which appears all over the site.

I used 'que' (which is not religious but of Spanish origin).

But what were you trying to say with your post?

I was curious as to where you felt your energy was best directed for making the world a better place for every living person to teh best of your abilities.

OK, of course, I'm not supportive of those either. And in fact I have massive issues with how women are treated in muslim countries, yes. Maybe this is what you feel too?
But does that mean I can't express my opinion about other issues? You could say that to almost every post on MN then.

Even if a German/French/Danish are their first or dual languages? I sing with a woman of German background in a choir and she would say it in German. She’s a British citizen now

I'm not complaining about Muslims. I'm not happy about references that are highly religious being used on a public, professional forum.

Just as I'm uncomfortable with US politicians and presenters/celebs referencing to 'God' etc.

For the record, I've voted Labour, Lib Dem, Green and Conservative (Cameron - but I'm anti-Brexit so that was disappointing) in the past.

Not in everyday life, not a problem. I just don't like referencing to clearly linked highly religious words (not once that has become common parlance) on LI.

Isn’t it a bit like like saying ‘thank god! I’ve got a job!’ ‘Thank god it’s Friday’ or ‘thank the lord tescos isn’t out of wine!’

Yes, and I wouldn't be comfortable with that either if it's stated on LinkedIn or a similar public, professional platform.

When you're talking to people or messaging in your private life, yes of course that's fine!

I'm not going to respond to any more messages as it's the same sort of responses on the whole and I think I've made my position very clear.

Anyway by the voting it seems I'm in the majority.
