To part with 2 grand

Flooring quote from Tapi to fit LVT for a average sized porch and living room is 2 grand. Fitting is 500. This is my first house and I'm finding it so hard to decide on things. Terrified of getting it wrong. Very cautious about parting with money. Bad anxiety. Does that seem like a lot? I dont know what other shops I could go to. I'd rather stick with a very mainstream one having already been conned out of money by a dodgy tradesman. I also still havent fully decided that I shouldn't get engineered wood but people saying it scratching and having to re-oil it is putting me off. But it looks lovely. Argh. Driving myself mad.

We have had both carpet and LVT from Tapi in the last year or so and I am happy with it.

Can't remember what it cost so can't comment on yours.

We had a relatively small hallway done and it cost £1000 (lots of doors so that increased the fitting cost I believe) so £2000 doesn’t sound wildly out to me for a living room and porch. It’s very durable stuff, in our last house it was 10+ years old and looked as good as new. Always worth getting an additional quote, perhaps from a local company? Then you know if it’s in the right ball park.

It is a huge expense @Homeimprovement22 but if you have the money now, then it's definitely worth doing.

Cannot comment on Tapi but just to add to your headache 😣, sorry, this site may give you a wee bit more information

I've just had a renovation done and for 75m2 of flooring it was £3700 and about £2300 to fit. It looks amazing though.

We used Tapi and they were…..OKish. They didn’t use their own fitters and it was difficult to get issues sorted.

In hindsight, I wish we had tried local independent firms with recommendations from neighbours and Trustpilot.

There is a tendency to try and get flooring sorted quickly but sometimes taking your own time and doing more research is better.

Look at the product and see if it is available elsewhere, as Tapi load prices.. Tapi use their own codes, to make it difficult to compare prices, but you may well find the same product, listed differently elsewhere, it has been known!! Get another quote and check out if the fitters are employed or self-employed, as fitting can make all the difference.

Tapi are known for being expensive and they have very average reviews. Get some other trusted and reviewed traders to quote too. Never ever only get one quote
