To think this was very intrusive?

About twelve missionaries all in twos were walking up and down my street. Two men walked past my living room window on the pavement which is about two metres from my window and stared right in. I didn't acknowledge them in because people who stare in really fuck me off. One of them then came back stared in my window and waved. I went to the door and told them I'm not interested, but aibu to think staring into my private space is very intrusive? Fucking men.

Very intrusive. I find missionary religions raise generally strange people- their behaviours are often not in step with society because they’re basically outside of it

Jollyhockeystickss · 15/03/2026 12:41

A bucket of water should do it

ASeriesOfTubes · 15/03/2026 13:18

Is your complaint about them being missionaries or men?

PloddingAlong21 · 15/03/2026 17:32

Have you got blinds? I find houses right on pavements without them really difficult but to stare in as I walk past. I’m almost completely oblivious to the fact I may do it. If I catch myself I stop. However no blinds it’s something to look at.

Comedycook · 15/03/2026 17:34

It's a horrible thing to do and could terrify some people.

Plus if there's movement in the house...the human brain is evolved to notice and react to movement as a defence mechanism, predators move to attack.

I always look in people's houses because I am nosey.

That's why you have blinds or net curtains in your on a street where people can look in

PinkLemonadee · 15/03/2026 17:57

You need nets or something at the window.

Oh me too. Especially at night. We have had to put nets up as I know from experience how well you can see in the neighbours houses that have bothered. Our two bedrooms are in the front we are in a bungalow

MummyWillow1 · 16/03/2026 08:07

If you are straight onto a path and hate people looking in why don’t you have privacy film/nets/blinds?

BauhausOfEliott · 16/03/2026 14:54

Those bloody missionaries are always intrusive and weird, the men and the women.

nomas · 16/03/2026 14:56

YANBU. Can you imagine if ethnic minorities did this? The would be roasted.

longtompot · 16/03/2026 15:26

@Carlie97 Very intrusive. I had an unnerving experience with some near me a few years ago when I was walking my dog around 9pm. It was winter so dark, and they almost walked right into me when we were both coming round a corner. They then proceeded to stand very close to me, one either side and my back was to a wall, and start preaching at me. I just said no thanks and managed to walk away, but I emailed the local church they were from and said that they needed to talk to the people who went there about how they went about telling the word of their lord, especially at night and especially to a lone women, even if with a dog.
