To wonder where to put my (left of centre) vote next time?

I rejoined the Green party after almost a decade out of it, having been a Labour party member for a while in between (left because they suspended my MP for voting with her conscience against the government to benefit her constituents). I'm concerned about lots of things, but mostly the Green party leadership's attitude towards women. AIBU to worry at this point, before they release their manifesto, and if not, who should I vote for?

Yes you should always worry about voting for the Green Party … unless you’re into class a drugs of course then the greens are for you ☺️

If your main intention is to keep the Tories/Reform out, then check how the voting went last time in your ward and work from there. In my ward, there is no possibility it will change so I feel I can do a bit of a protest vote if I want. Yours may be more interesting...

Are you just voting Green because you have vague fuzzy notions about them being environmentally friendly and kind? Because you scratch the surface and actually look at their politics are they are radical Left Marxists hellbent on Soviet-style wealth redistribution. Any impression that they are simply conservationists went up in smoke years ago. You cannot conserve the environment while advocating for limitless migration via open borders policies.

Not only that but in recent years - just as the Labour party in certain areas before them - they have become a skin suit for entryist Muslims who want to form an ethnic voting bloc in Parliament. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if there was eventually a complete takeover of the Green party apparatus by Islamist activists.

So if you want to lend your vote to that knock yourself out.

I am going to have to vote Labour to keep reform and conservatives out. Not that I want to support Labour presently (have happily voted for them many times before), but as things stand now they are the only party in my area that will prevent that happening. As a disabled female I dont think any party really represents my needs. I will be closely looking at the numbers nearer the time and doing a tactical vote.

I’m a left of centre floating voter and will absolutely not be voting for the Greens in the Scottish elections in May.

I’ve very stuck with who to vote for this time. I suspect I’ll have to vote tactically to get the least dreadful option.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/03/2026 09:58

YANBU to worry about them but YABU to expect anyone else to know who you should vote for. None of the parties inspire any confidence in me at the moment. I’d be inclined to vote based on (1) tactically if Reform are in with a chance - Anyone has to be better than fucking Farage, but I’d be very unhappy if the current Greens got any real power too.

It does depend a lot on the individual candidate but that can be hard to assess.

Donsyb · 13/03/2026 21:18

I would describe myself as slightly left of centre, and I will vote for whoever has the best chance of keeping reform out!

Genevieva · 13/03/2026 21:20

The Greens who want to make friends with Putin? Any party except Green would be acceptable in my opinion.

That's where you can find Suzanne Vega, off of the strip. Maybe you could try her.
