Yes I am - but I'm so BROOOOOOOOODY!

Have just been sorting out DS' outgrown babyclothes, dividing into 'pile to give to pregnant mate' and 'pile to ebay'. And I had forgotten how cute some of this stuff was, and how small! DS is a strapping 3-year-old now, and so many people around are PG and I suddenly want a lickle tiny babby to cuddle again.
But it is not at all feasible or a good idea so I shall just have to dote on everyone else's newborns and hand them back once they start possetting. Mm, had forgotten posseting. And being shat all over.
Hmm, maybe I'm not that broody after all.

Very normal to feel this way, especially whilst sorting out tiny cute clothes. felt this way myself the other week but ds is only 7 and a half months , honestly, it's the tiny clothes, they do it every time.
Out of interest though, just to explore this a little further, are you sure it is not at all feasable or a good idea?

youcannotbeserious · 17/06/2008 16:39

ahh...

My DS is only 4 weeks old and DH is ADAMENT that he'll be our only one but I just know I'll be broody once DS gets to, oh, I dunno... 6 months

Seriously, I can just feel it. I adored being pregnant, and I adore my DS..

I, too, know I'm being unreasonable....

Oblomov · 17/06/2008 16:50

It is hormonal.
Hormones kick in to make women broody and to make them forget the pain of the birth, that they have just had.
There is a medical/ biological reason why you are feeling this broody.
It is called hormonmes.

Oblomov · 17/06/2008 16:53

sorry, I thought cannotbeserious was saying she was already broody, at 4 weeks !!!
No seriously, it is very common for broodiness to be very strong in the first few months after childbirth.
Madamez, with her sorting through lovely baby clothes, that is a bit different.
Is there no chance madamez ?

youcannotbeserious · 17/06/2008 16:55

Unfortunately, Oblomov, My hormones pale into insignificance when compared with the "never again!" hormones my DH has coursing through his veins...

Oblomov · 17/06/2008 16:58

That too is to be expected, unfortunately

youcannotbeserious · 17/06/2008 17:01

Oh, I am, Oblomov.

If I thought I could persuade DH to have another, I'd try again in an instance!!!

LadyThompson · 17/06/2008 17:21

I don't know whether YABU or not - doesn't sound all that unreasonable to me - I haven't got a kid yet but saw my 16 wk baby again on the ultrasound this morning and she looks SOOOOO lovely. I haven't been able to concentrate on my work all day since. After years of not being that fussed about kids I suddenly just KNOW I am going to love it. The clothes are all gorgeous. I have been super sensible with clothes so far and they are all supermarket babygros etc, cos I know how quickly they grow out of stuff; BUT I have set my heart on a pink cashmere cardigan for her. Just one, mindlessly extravagant thing...sorry, hijacked your thread

madamez · 17/06/2008 17:34

It's unfeasible all right: am 43 and a single mum with massive debts. And I couldn't really face dealing with the 12-24 months stage again anyway
I will just cuddle newborns, you can hand them back.

Hey, LT - Make sure you wait until your LO is here before you buy anything too extravagant....

Otherwise, it might be too small or big!!!

FWIW, I framed my little 20Week scan pictures and said goodnight to my DS everynight.

Twelvelegs · 17/06/2008 17:39

Madamez, you could get yourself a reborn!!

LadyThompson · 17/06/2008 17:43

Yes, I am making myself hang on...though I might get a biggish one anyway so it lasts for longer. Also, a cardigan doesn't need to do up! I've laughed at people going all moony over baby clothes in the past...and now I am one of the worst culprits. But they are like DOLL'S clothes...

Just to amuse you all, I don't even know what posseting is!! That's how green I am. Don't tell me as I think it's to do with sick, which is probably quite hard to get out of cashmere

BouncingTurtle · 17/06/2008 17:44

Madamez - YANBU - you are human You should volunteer to run mum and tiny baby groups and offer to cuddle the little ones to give mums a break... then give them back when they puke/poo/dribble etc.
