3.4% increase…I just feel a meh about that tbh…I know IABU…just felt it would be at least 4%

bonus is 8% so that is good (but I’ll be putting it into my pension anyway)

I never got a pay rise the entire 3 years I was at my last job. Started on a fairly good salary for the industry, but the pay was insulting by the time I left. I asked for a pay rise but was told there was no money. Funny how they could employ a man for £8k more, though.

unfaithfulornot · 10/03/2026 15:20

0% for the 5th year. Impossible to leave now 😞

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 10/03/2026 15:22

3.5% here. Public sector so never get bonuses.

Why.

SheWillBeTheDeathOfMe · 10/03/2026 15:42

DH has had 0% for 3 years, private sector, company had a hard time but is in profit now.

I got 3% last year and 10% this year, but I worked extremely hard for this year’s pay rise and more than deserve it. I am still v good value but it is nice to feel appreciated and I’m happy to out earn DH now despite taking time out of education and work due to DC

Greenbooksandtomatoes · 10/03/2026 15:48

3.8% nhs ill health pension and as its a tiny pension (as it was calculated on part time due to being a single parent and ill health) its never going to be worth much. However better than last years 1.7%.

0% for the 5th year. Impossible to leave now 😞

Edit: no idea how I managed to do this twice.

Has your job significantly changed which would warrant a pay increase above inflation? Otherwise, why would you expect to get one? Same job, same effective pay. That’s what I got this year and I’m thankful I didn’t get an effective pay cut.

The fact that you don’t know what inflation was when you got your previous rises means you don’t really understand what those rises mean. As a PP explained, if inflation was 6-10% then, you would have been getting an effective pay cut at a 4% increase. So your 3.4% this year would actually be better in real terms.

Loub1987 · 10/03/2026 16:15

3.5% here so pretty happy with that!

BlackthornBlossom · 10/03/2026 16:17

Pay freeze, promotion freeze and recruitment freeze for about 2 years now (private sector). Keep being told "it'll unfreeze soon, don't worry!". Went to training for new career pathways framework (i.e. "how to get promoted") and we were told we can start working on it now, we could even get promoted now but we just won't see the pay rise. Who the eff wants more responsibility for the same pay?!

We're all overworked and my motivation is tanking. Good job I actually like my job, but yeah...

Mumstheword1983 · 10/03/2026 16:32

4.25% last year and 3.25% this year.

Edited

I get them because it’s in my contract that I get annual increase and bonus based on my performance and company performance. Both have been good this last year.

Yeah last year I got a promotion so it was a good jump. (10k) this year 3.4% so I’m on just under 52k. I love my job but really I do need more money, looks like I’ll have to try for another job/promotion again.

Mine will go up to whatever the minimum wage is in April.

But I'm presuming our veterinary nurses pay will have to rise because they're paid only just above minimum wage.

greenrabbit100 · 11/03/2026 08:34

Zero pay rise or bonus, private sector. Just had my hours cut instead of redundancy.

BestDIL · 11/03/2026 14:14

It's all really dependent on what you earn in the first place. Someone on £20k, it's £680 but someone on £50k is £1,700 so a decent raise. I'm self-employed and in theory should be able to set my rates but I get pushed back by some of my clients and have not been able to negotiate increases this year!

ThereIsNoSuchThingAsRoadTax · 11/03/2026 14:24

University - we got 1.4% this year (those of us lucky enough to work in an institution that didn't defer the rise). Every pay settlement since 2008 has been below the rate of inflation. Salaries now worth 25-30% less in real terms than they were back then.

Jellycatspyjamas · 11/03/2026 14:32

No pay rise for me this year, frankly I’m lucky to still have a job. We’ve had a major restructure/cost cutting and lost some lovely colleagues, so I’ll suck it up and be glad.
