to be really cross with the stupid drunk woman who reversed into my car last night, even though she is a friend of a friend

because I am bloody FURIOUS with her and finding it hard to laugh off

my rear passenger door is crushed inwards

and it made my blood boil when I just rang her and she said 'oh i hear its the third accident you've had in that car'

as if it was MY BLOODY FAULT

We went to a birthday dinner last night. I drove home - reversed out of the car park space, stopped to check where we were going and make sure everyone was strapped in (had 2 friends in the back) and she reversed slowly into me from the opposite space - she was quite pissed clearly and just didnt look!

Dh is cross with me for not sounding my horn - it happened too fast for that - and the friend whose birthday dinner it was seems to think its all quite amusing. Just spoken to the other woman and she is trying to laugh it off.

but I am cross cross cross

She is going to pay for the damage, right? And your insurance company knows that she did this to you?

Quadrophenia · 17/06/2008 10:00

really not funny at all, lucky in some ways though it was your car and not a person, wonder if she'd find it so funny if she had seriously hurt someone.

edam · 17/06/2008 10:00

Grrr. You are entitled to be bloody furious. What a cow.

Ryobi · 17/06/2008 10:01

had she been drinking at the party then?

apart from your car, her behaviour sopunds appalling

at her thinking denting your car while she was drunk driving is amusing. You do get some riffraff down your way enif
Was going to ask if you had a nice time - apart from this of course.
Dob her in to your insurance company if she does not immediately offer to settle your repair bill. As a non-driver am not sure whether the fact that this happened off public highway is relevant?

well she has rung to say that her dh has sorted 'everything' and I will get arental car etc

she was strangely reluctant to give me her details as it turns out to be registered to her dhs work - not sure whether that is naughty or not

You said the P word and I agree LL
Poor old Mr Miaou lost his licence for just sitting in a car park, he hadn't even got round to reversing amusingly into a car full of his "friends"

Marina · 17/06/2008 10:06

Enid promise us never to accept a lift from this woman if she regularly drinks and drives

Enid · 17/06/2008 10:06

well I dont KNOW that she was pissed

but I saw her drinking at the party

and she seemed quite out of it when she got out of the car, mind you we were both a little bit shocked

I didnt like her before this

It might be that she isn't insured to drive it - depends on how the car insurance where her DH works is arranged.

Still, not funny at all. I would have called the police I'm afraid - I have no patience with pissed drivers.

Enid · 17/06/2008 10:08

and I remained sober throughout even though I was sitting next to the worlds most boring man

she clearly doesnt understand how insurance works either as she doesnt seem to get that I have to report it as well.

She is supposed to be emailing details to me in the next hour

she'd bloody better

Ask her if she thinks losing her licence for drunk driving and/or leaving scene of accident without reporting it to the police would be quite so amusing.

Agree with Lapin, would have called them myself if I knew someone was drink driving. Totally unacceptable.

Enid · 17/06/2008 10:09

everyone drinks and drives in the country

its terrible I know

disclaimer- I do NOT drink and drive

CountessDracula · 17/06/2008 10:11

hang on hang on
(a) you don't know if she was over the limit
(b) even if she was you have no evidence

So if you go around blabbing that she was drink driving you could get yourself in hot water

She sounds like an arse Enid. I would stay out of it and let the insurance companies sort it out. If you were stationary when she hit you and you have witnesses you will be fine

Enid · 17/06/2008 10:12

oh I am not going to say anything about the drunkeness to anyone

but she was clearly pissed and I resent her being all jokey about it

yes was stationary
yes have witnesses

but I am going on holiday in five weeks and my car better be bloody fixed by then

Marina · 17/06/2008 10:13

Easy to say with hindsight HedgeWitch, she could have come back to her car after Enid and her friends had already got in theirs
Sadly I think we all know that general attitudes to drink-driving in the country, hugely influenced by distance from venue and taxis/transportation plus late-night traffic volume, are different from in towns and cities (not a dig at you enid, but based on college and work friends who either live or grew up in a rural area).

missblythe · 17/06/2008 10:13

Why should you sound your horn? To wake up any 'funny' drunks who may have fallen asleep at the wheel?

She sounds like a nightmare! Make sure they sort it out to your satisfaction promptly, as the longer you leave it the harder it will be to make it official.
